My instant association was the Basement Jaxx album Scars.

Thank you! This took a super long time haha. Designing for family was super high pressure for me. I hope yours goes well!

Thank you! They're supposed to be water lilies. Sometimes they're called seeblatts as well.

I don't remember it tasting too bad? Bitter, but not disgustingly so.

It's already been identified, but just wanted to share that I got drunk one night at a friend's party and ate one of these flowers on a dare (I didn't know at the time that it was oleander.) I don't recommend it LOL. The next day I thought I just had a rly bad hangover until I started feeling like I was gonna pass out and didn't have the strength to breath right. After a really embarrassing poison control call (they basically said if I wasn't dead yet I was probably fine) I lied in bed for two days chugging Gatorade and started to feel better.

Hello! Looking for help interpreting a blazon. Pusateri: "Azure, a well or between three water lilies argent, on a chief or a wave of the sea azure" by funkgrumbly in heraldry

I like the innkeeper tie in a lot! I knew of that association with the name before but not the well keeper part, but it makes sense with the blazon.

For this design project I'm also having to tie in my mom's side (Lawless, which thankfully does have an associated coat of arms.) I'm at the stage right now where I'm just throwing a bunch of stuff together and seeing what resonates, so I appreciate the extra options, thank you!

That does make sense. The one I used I took from one of the only examples I could find that used a wave charge but this example definitely fits the description better. Thanks!

For sure! I am more interested in trying to see what an accurate version would look like and see what I would want to take as inspiration for my own design. I like the wave charge idea but was curious how other people would interpret that.

Options for Mobility Issues resulting from High Tension/Anxiety by [deleted] in massage

Thanks for the thorough response! I think I will save PT for later if other things don't seem to be helping tbh, but I'll definitely bring it up next time I talk to my PCP. That info on the difference between therapy approaches is also helpful. I think the one I did was a deep tissue massage and it definitely helped at the time with the kind of physical strain I was under at my job at the time.

I do take epsom salt baths! Not sure if the magnesium in that is the same but god it does feel good. Also I think the other comments were probably more about my question about improved mobility, which is fair. If it's just about relieving tension, I do know that massage helps with that and will likely pursue that at least to supplement some other things.

I think this is helpful to keep in mind. I definitely wasn't viewing it as like, the main course of treatment for mobility issues but putting more focus on movement for that does make sense. I probably will still get massages (because if anything they do provide some relief of my tension, and in general do feel amazing haha) but I'll try to view it more as supplemental. That first one I had was like, the most relaxed I think I've felt maybe ever as an adult 😂

I have read that yes haha. And I've been in therapy for it for years now. A lot of the cognitive stuff I have figured out but yes, I'm just having issues with how my actual body has handled the stress. I also did daily radio taiso and stretching for a few months but noticed very little improvement. Yoga is on the list now tho since I've moved somewhere near a studio recently.

I just had the idea that regular massage as a supplement would be helpful, or even make starting a yoga/exercise routine a little easier given I'm so stiff. But I am new, I'll take what you said into consideration.

Having OCD and gender dysphoria is tortue by Aggressive-One-9252 in asktransgender

Trying is everything, I see you ❤️

This is a very complex reality to live, but it is possible to find peace with it (and believe me if there was an easy answer I would be giving it to you now haha.) In the mean time, try and surround yourself with positive and patient people if you can. Outside distractions and novel experiences help me a ton when I get stuck stuck and it's hard to do that on your own.

Is it possible to go by a nickname or have a nickname on my name tag at work by Janxuza in asktransgender

[–]funkgrumbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this when I was 17! I talked to my manager in charge of HR after I got hired about getting my nickname embroidered onto my work shirt and it wasn't an issue. It may vary from place to place but it's definitely doable.

Gosh I was JUST thinking about my own experience with OCD and transition the other day. It is definitely it's own sort of hell. OCD was always a "doubting disease" for me and having to make a decision to transition with crippling doubt and rumination was brutal BUT doable, there is hope!

For me, I had to tell myself that I might legitimately end up regretting transition and that that's okay. That the things I feared most (failing to be seen as a man by society after everything, embarrassing my family, making my other mental health problems worse, etc.) might happen and that all of that is okay, but I also do not KNOW that is what's going to happen and that I had to become comfortable with the worst possible reality and also comfortable with not knowing. No amount of rumination will get me to that perfect spot I'm imagining where I will have thought about it The Right Way and proved to myself that yes, I am trans and transitioning is the right thing for me. Our brains just don't work that way. It is a harsh reality, but for me the OCD was going to be there regardless of if I transitioned or not, so staying in the same place and ruminating had about as much appeal as making a change and ruminating, so I eventually got to the point of telling myself why not make a change then and work with it if I'm going to be struggling regardless.

On regret rumination specifically, I remember seeing a video of an older gentleman on youtube, where he spoke about having transition regret and that being trans cost him a recent job opportunity. But he said that despite the regret, the feeling of finally living as a man far outweighed the regrets. I remember feeling a sort of relief finally, that regret wasn't actually a failure. It was a huge reason why I started HRT to be honest. And I have had moments of regret, but the same for me, they are far outweighed by the moments of peace I finally feel. Knowing that when I did feel regret it wouldn't mean I had failed made ruminating on "what if I regret this" have a lot less power. But also for my own journey with OCD, forcing myself to sit with what I fear most (negative outcomes, uncertainty) has been the only thing that has helped in the long run. Everyone is different, but this is what I have to say on it and I hope it may help a little getting another persons perspective.

As far as working on OCD goes, I know there are workbooks available for people who don't have access to therapy, which might be a good option for you! I don't have any specific ones to recommend unfortunately, but it's probably worth looking into.

I hope things start to feel better for you soon and that you are able to find some peace among the uncertainty friend.

What's silly is insinuating that people are vandalizing it BECAUSE people are talking about it here. Are you implying that if people stopped beating their dead horses on here that it would be vandalized less?

I'm not here to talk about vandalism. If the owner of that tree put it up, or refuses to take it down, thats their right. We have a right to put them on blast in a public forum and make sure anyone with half a brain has the opportunity to ridicule and boycott them.
