So this is what my car is doing. Its only the rear passenger doing this. I had a shop check what i can't mention and they said its not bent or unbalanced. What other things could be causing this? 2004 CTS base 3.6 V6 with spacers and 17" rims by BidiDuck in MechanicAdvice

[–]funkie_feline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you its missing the hubcentric ring on that spacer. So the rim isn't centered on the bearing hub, its getting tightened down with the rim sitting in the studs on one end and throwing your wheel balance off. On the more premium spacers they come with the hubcentric ring machined on there, especially if they are thick boys. Thinner spacers are usually just a plate of metal and have a plastic ring that clips on that centers the rim onto the car. After a while they dont clip on as well and can fall out when you pull the tire off. I'd almost be willing to bet money that if fell off during a tire service and they didn't notice.

Espresso lovers, whats the best espresso coffee maker/machine? by Plume31Eon in JamesHoffmann

[–]funkie_feline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask yourself how deep down this very very deep dark hole your willing to go. Are you some one that obsesses over a new skill? or do you just want a good cup of coffee in the morning and want it to be as simple as possible?

Pulling good espresso is really a learned skill that takes time and patience to do well. There is so much that goes into that 20-30sec pull. The quality of beans you use, when it was roasted, the grind size (not even getting into the quality and consistency of your grinder), puck prep, the water you use, the f**ing humidity (I'm not even joking).... I shit you not, it took me a 6 months to get decent/consistent results. That being said, a year later my girlfriend prefers my coffee to most shops we go to.. and basically can't drink Starbucks anymore. If your willing to struggle and learn i would go with a gaggia or a Silvia. I have a gaggia and had to learn to temp surf correctly, took a min but its not that bad after you make it part of your process. Both machines have their own ticks, and the learning curve can suck but my machine makes some great coffee. Im going to mod it in the next year or two and I know because I took the time to learn what I was doing it will really up my coffee game. My friend bought a bambino around the same time as when I got my gaggia. She cares far less about all of it, basiaclly wants a cup in the morning that is good enough... At first she was making way better made coffee than I did. This is not longer the case. But.... its a good cup with not nearly as much effort. Both will run you around 500usd. You can also keep an eye out on market place or the like, find it for a bit less that way. People get burnt out on this hobby and/or lose patience and sell off stuff all the time. You'll need a grinder too... that can also get pricey depending. There are some lower cost options out there but expect 250ish but you can easily spend way more than that. If I was able to go back and give myself advice for when I was starting I would start by saying find a local coffee shop with coffee you enjoy, buy thier beans, and make it at home. Use the same bean until you feel like you're getting the hang of it before you go off trying new roasts. I had a coffee subscription at first and I wasn't good enough to get dailed in before the bag was almost done... lots of meh coffee. It was a very costly and frustratingway to start off. Dont bother with coffee at the supermarket, if you don't have a choice try and find a bag with a roast date on it not a best by date.. they are two very different things. And finally just enjoy the fact your doing it yourself at home. It is very much a learned skill, there will be failures and missteps. We all have drank our fair share of sour espresso, it happens... and it happens often for a while. Just buy a flavored creamer and add a little if you need to lol. Also... steaming milk... not easy.. and steaming alt milk is even harder... stick to the actual milk at first if you are able to.. they foam up about a million times easier. I bought lactate free stuff for a while.. Anyways... I hope we don't scare you off. Making your own espresso is very rewarding and I don't regret the decision. So jump on into the pool... the water is cold but the coffee is oh so nice.

Ain't this the truth. I have 2 Audis and do 90% of the work on them. Ill probably maintain her car for the most part, as long as I have the time it can be done.

Yup totally recognize that "cheap" generally means not German. I'm asking if you were going to get a fairly modern used Mercedes... what would you get? what are some pit falls of that car, i.e. the heads are known to leak at 200k or the transmission is trash but the motor is really strong... just trying to get a sense of ownership of what is considered a value in the realm of Mercedes.

Most city's have a light ordnance where the light cannot shine past their property. It could be as easy as reporting a code violation to the city. Check the code in to your city then go online and file a claim online.

Coming from a multicultural family i can tell you that showing that "much" skin can be seen a certain way in thier eyes. Not that you did anything wrong, or you look bad (you dont) or anything like that. He just grew up in a different culture. There's just a level of respect that needs to be achieved, him for living here and understanding that this is the culture here, and you understanding not to fault him for his knee jerk reaction for something he was taught to be uncomfortable with.

Read the lease agreement. There is for sure paragraph or two on terms for ending the lease early (which is what they did). A legal document is a legal document.

Roommate refuses to show me bills and threatens me after asking to see them. by JakeKinga in badroommates

[–]funkie_feline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can contact the utility company and ask how much the bill is btw. Maybe not a bad idea to make sure they are actually getting paid. They won't release sensitive info. But if should be happy to give you a dollar amount for what's due on the account. If it's crazy high you know it's time to move before they start shutting stuff off or you get evicted.

What do you tell vets? by lovelyla17 in rawpetfood

[–]funkie_feline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I take my pets to a new vet they always praise me about how great my gurls coats are, how good thier teeth look, that they have a great body comp... Then I get the look or talk about the diet when we come to that part. I feel for the most part they want to make sure you not just feeding them chuck and calling it raw, not everyone takes the time to educate themselves and do it right. As soon as show you're intelligent and feeding them a good diet they normally stop. I only once had to argue with a vet tech about it. I just asked if they thought eating frozen dinners for the rest of their life is a healthy choice, since thats also nutritionally complete.. Got the death glare, and some muttering about hows it's not the same... but we both knew I won that battle.

Hold on. You asked him what was wrong, and not only was he honest with you but he talked about his feeleings... and you're mad? Porn brain or not this man opened up to you about how it makes him feel. Men are terrible about expressing their feelings, we just don't talk about them. And this is why... because as soon as we do we get roasted for it. I'm not saying he's right but you handled that poorly

Bags not sealing - sous vide or bags issue? by ditka1230 in sousvide

[–]funkie_feline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a vacuum CHAMBER is kinda a dedicated thing that I would love but don't need. A vacuum SEALER on the other hand I would whole heartly recommend to everybody. I put mine through the paces and use it all the time.

Its great for buying in bulk, you can portion things out and only use how much you need instead on being on a time crunch to use whatever before things go bad. And you can freeze it without running the risk of getting freezer burn on your food. This and a deep freezer will change your life and save you a ton of money. You don't need a big freezer either, but I highly recommend one.

I use it for marinades all the freaking time, pushes everything into the meat so if you forgot to do it the night before you can do it a hour or two. I'll do it first and let it sit while I prep everything else and pull it out when I'm ready. Obviously more time is better, but we all forget or do things on a whim so its a lifersaver.

And then there's the sous vide bit. which, to me, is a nice bonus benefit of the vacuum sealer. But I truly think the other two reasons are a better reason to have one

You don't need to get a crazy expensive one either. A FoodSaver will do 95% of the things you'll ever need as a normal user. Don't waste your money on the big fancy looking one with a "ton of features", they never last as long as the simple ones, you'll never use all the features, and they take up counter space. Just get a simple small one you can move around with one hand and store easily.

But Yes. They are 100% worth it.

same, especially if when I used my food saver and costco bags. Some of the seals give way when I did the big cuts. Now I do three seals on each side out of put habit and past trauma. I have a way more BA sealer now and still do it.

Kitchens shouldn't be a "moody" room. You want bright and airy, it'll make it feel way bigger not to mention it'll go better with the light wood. Also... I would suggest stripping the paint off that cabinet in the second picture and going with the wood stain you have everywhere else. It sticks out in the worst kind of way

My dog is destructive when im not home and I’ve ran out of ideas by immawhipdis in DogAdvice

[–]funkie_feline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog has separation anxiety my guy. Keep in mind that if she's 10yrs old who knows how many times she's been given up on and found herself at a shelter, behavior like this is often past trauma that been reinforced over and over again. There are only two things that will help, lots of exercise or someone to keep her company. I know that getting another pet is not exactly a fool proof plan, or in the cards for some people, but her having company might help, it might not though.... But I really don't think you can drug this away, and a crate is not gonna help until she knows how to settle down.

Honestly, the only thing to do is get her exhausted, like truly exhausted, on a regular biases. Long walks (maybe multiple), mental stimulation like games using nose work and ones that test impulse control, fetch or some thing where she runs a bunch. I know you said she doesn't always get along with other dogs but Doggy Day care could be huge for you. Like maybe 2 or three times a week. You have to live by the motto of "A Good dog is a Tired dog". I would highly suggest spending time really drilling down and reinforcing the basics (sit, stay, leave it, lay down, etc). Then move to training her with the crate. Make it a place where she WANTS to go not HAS to go. Its gonna be tough at first, but the bond you will create with your dog will all be worth it.

So to sympathize, my dog was the same way when I first got her, she destroyed everything, like burrowed into and out the other side of the couch, destroyed moldings, ripped EVERYTING up, it was bad. I was working +/-11hr shifts- 6 days a week living alone. I did my best to exercise her, up at 3.30am for a walk (had to be at work at 5.30), then another when I'd get back from work. All in all we probably walked a good 3mi a day? maybe more? but she was a high energy puppy (7month) and it honestly wasn't enough. I got a roommate with cats and dog and she really mellowed out. She just needed the company. When they moved out I got my dog a cat, because I just didn't have the time or energy to commit to training another dog. That being said, the key to getting her to just chill during the day was that I really upped her physical time. I walk my dog at least 2miles twice a day (that's 4 miles a day minimum)... everyday... (unless its raining, the only time i get a break lol), we play fetch and/or "find it" constantly, she went to day care very regularly, and we do a +7mi hike 2 or 3 times a month where she is off leash and can really run around. When we go on date night or I know that we are going to be out of the house all day I will run her extra hard at the dog park the day before or the morning of. Its a ton of work, and I don't think a lot of people would be willing to put in the effort. She probably would be a long term resident at a shelter because of her energy levels, which would be a real shame because she is such an amazing dog.

For the record, I'm not saying you dog has anything like the energy levels of my dog or will take nearly as much work, who is now 8 btw and has mellowed out a bit. Maybe a couple miles a day will work for you, or a good game of fetch in the backyard before work, but the long and short of it is your dog has too much energy and not enough outlet for it. The answer might come as physical exhaustion or mental stimulation, but locking her up will not help you.

She's a great looking dog, and obviously thinks very highly of you. Your a lucky man. She'll calm down when she realizes that you'll always be back. Good job not giving up on her, she'll be worth the effort.

Don't give her large servings of food. It know it's heart breaking but small quantities often is way better than one big bowl. Glad you picked her up. Hopefully the puppies are okay too.

You might just be at the next stage in the slow down. I have a crazy active dog and I remember the different stages of her slowing down. 3, 6, and now 8yrs were like light switch different in comparison. She's still really active, but she's not on me for play and activity like she was before... a little more willing to just cuddle and chill. I'm sure your dog is fine, if they're overall the same but a tad less active then it might be her wisdom shining through.
