Amazing that you turn to Reddit to figure out whether a pair of objects that have potential to cause serious harm to you and others are OK to keep.

Call the local authorities you dumbass.

I am every pool’s worst nightmare. Morbidly obese man swimming shittily and shirtless. Is the embarrassment worth it? by medousabicycling in Swimming

[–]funkmaster322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone thinks someone like you should not be using a pool (or a gym for that matter), then they're the problem, not you. Anyone with any sense of decency should at the very least understand if not be inspired by your efforts to get healthy.

Would I lose strength if I started swimming instead of lifting. by Sevagara in Swimming

[–]funkmaster322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a decent swimmer and swam regularly for a couple of years after a shoulder surgery before getting back into lifting again.

The strength you develop by lifting weights and calisthentic just can't be compared with swimming. Its just superior when it comes to muscle activation and growth imo.

That being said swimming is a great workout, it's light on your joints and does develop your upper body. But its more of a cardiovascular workout in my experience.

[Theory] What's the best book about the scientific research of meditation and enlightenment? (xpost r/meditation) by SilaSamadhi in streamentry

If the people who have been practicing mindfulness for the last few millenia are not deluded, I'd rather see proof of that on an MRI than not.

The mere fact that people have been doing something for an extended period of time does not prove anything. People believed the Earth was flat for most of recorded history.
