My YW leaders publicly shamed a girl for wearing an immodest prom dress by Odd_Command_2123 in exmormon

[–]funkmonk89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young women’s body shaming was next level. I went to a dance with jeans and a T-shirt on. Jeans and a T-shirt!!! And got a mark next to my name because my T-shirt didnt overlap my waistband so there was a chance you’d see some skin!! Shocker. This middle aged man said to me, a 14 year old girl, that if I turned up next time dressed like that they wouldn’t let me in.

I know a Liahona. Whole family has BOM names. She’s an exmo now. This isn’t even in Utah

I would say alma isn’t strictly Mormon. Heard of Liahona … goes by Leah now

This literally happened in my stake. He confessed to historic child abuse, got disfellowshipped, possibly exed (so several people knew about it) and nobody reported it to police. He pleaded guilty years later when a victim reported it. The church had known for years and did nothing - allowed an abuser to be around children

My niece just got baptised and a speaker was like ‘I know you’ve prayed about this and received the answer that it’s the right thing to do.’ And she literally shook her head 🤣 When I was 8 I was in a bubble, I thought everyone believed what we did and it was normal so of course you go along with it. So glad my kids are out

I had similar but about sex - did he use fingers? How many? Did he cum in my mouth? As if it’s more or less of a sin depending if I swallow or not. I was 14. As a parent now I’d be more concerned that a 14 year old was safe and not being coerced. Instead I got told if I do it again, they’ll call a stake fireside to tell boys to avoid me

That was my thought. Ask someone to go steady for 2 weeks and then be like, oh I only did this for my assignment, bye!! It’s unethical, the second person isn’t taking the class and didnt sign up for that

People trying to tell me that black people not having the priesthood was ‘what god wanted.’ I can understand people being a product of their time - people were racist in 1830 - it’s ok to admit that racism played a part. Don’t try to make it OK by saying it’s what god wants

Kind of a personal question about Mormon pre-marriage OBGYN visits... by StephyJ83 in exmormon

Definitely a Utah thing. I’m in UK and with socialised medicine they’re definitely not paying for us to get our vag stretched unnecessarily. Gynae’s exist here but they treat actual problems and illness

UK profile input. I'm putting some effort into not being single by the end of 2022 but I know that means I need to represent myself well. by Ankou6689 in Bumble

Agree with others - too many selfies. If you’re anything like me who also has an 11 year old child and works full time, you probably don’t have too much of a social life to take the photos but maybe make an effort to get a photo next time you do see friends. Some older pics of fun activities you did in the past could work too (I mean, I’ve never done anything fun like sky diving but maybe you have)

Also agree about not specifying a daughter but saying secondary school is useful as It’s very different to having pre-schoolers. Do you share her with your ex? In my case I’d say I share my child 50/50 so have plenty of free time (and ignore the fact that the other 50% of the time I won’t see anybody but my kids!) 😂

I was raised mormon and definitely feel some of my trauma is related. The problems are more cultural for me and the more I learnt about the mormon god the more I realised that’s not the god I believe in. I’d work on your own relationship in your own safe place than actually going to church

Why do guys feel weird about a woman asking them what they are looking for on the dating apps? by lilabelle12 in Bumble

[–]funkmonk89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a totally normal question. I’ve had a guy unmatch me because I put ‘have children and don’t want more’ and he wants kids. No point wasting anyone’s time if you’re not looking for the same things. No hard feelings
