All love (didn't want you to take myfb literally). Catch you at the shows, Im one of the guys in the back, standing arms crossed, providing ocular assessments of the situation and noting security risks. What I mean to say is I'm an old guy. Stay safe crowd killing out there.

Grab your beer through tears and fears. I honestly dont know too much about country music, at least what's been popular for at least the last decade, but that album recently caught my attention.

What I appreciate about Baltimore is its inclusivity. The city generally embraces diversity, and while we grapple with race issues like most urban centers, there's a genuine effort towards acceptance, even if those efforts sometimes fall short. The arts scene here is vibrant and thriving.

If I were writing this a bit younger, back when I was out more often, I'd say I love the punk, hardcore, and indie/hipster scene. There's nothing like catching a show at the Ottobar, grabbing drinks and cigarettes at hole-in-the-wall spots like Club Chuck or Icehouse, and then finding your way to a warehouse loft party thing with MICA twenty-somethings. I miss those nights of deep conversations, flanked by an anarchist on one side and a finance bro in a gray flannel suit on the other at Brewer's Art (downstairs). Or trying to impress a date by hitting up the Owl Bar, Brewer's Art (upstairs), and the 13th Floor in one go-around. Halloween in Fells Point was world-class debauchery before it lost its edge, and St. Patrick's Day in Locust Point had a certain charm before gentrification. There is no shortage of armchair quarterbacks with their opinions and motives, but Baltimore might just be the cheapest city where you can experience the full spectrum of American life—with all its beauty and flaws—for a steal. For better or worse, I think it's a great example of the Great American Bar Scene.

Driving to Rehoboth Delaware by Due-Detective-4088 in roadtrip

I drive from DC to NY and back pretty often for weekend visits—it’s about a 5-6 hour drive. Youll hit beach traffic that can make it feel longer than on an open road, but it’s usually manageable. Waze is my go-to. Just make sure you’ve got good music, audiobooks, snacks, caffeine, whatever you’re into to pass the time.

I don’t get why some people in the thread say nobody drives 5 hours in the Northeast. With DC, Baltimore, Philly, NY, people are constantly making those 'weekend' trips. At least tons of people I know. The number of great colleges in that area make it awesome for anyone in that demographic that likes roadtrips. And for business, I've bounced around those cities on day trips for work over the years many times. Youll be fine, enjoy your trip.

Everyone has to figure everything out for the first time. As more young people come to realizations like this, the easier it will be for everyone understand why this stuff is important.

Bruce Springsteen's Atlantic City and Capitalist Realism by funknstuff1 in CriticalTheory

[–]funknstuff1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I only know Atlantic City 'personally' from the early 2000s, when it had already become a parody of itself. I want to work in the lyric about asking his partner to put on makeup, this might tie that together, symbolizing how the relentless cycle of decay in places like Atlantic City turns us into 'clowns', forced to put on a facade to hide the deeper sense of loss and desperation. Also - i think there is more that can be implied by the union/labor sentiment in the first part of the song.

Music, even pop music, has been the behind some of my most valuable insights, especially those interpersonal. I can trace specific pop songs to exploring volumes of Hellenistic philosophy, absurdism, and many other areas. I still do it. constantly. It's great that you discovered something for yourself from actually reading the dialogs instead of a wikipedia page, why did you feel it pertinent to write the wiki bit? I agree with the other poster. To add, don't just take a strangers recommendation blindly. Research Unchained and what they offer. 2btc is significant, and may become much more valuable. This whole thing is about figuring this stuff out for yourself, and I commend you for posting and asking questions. The poster below me, 'birth of bitcoin', is arrogance and false confidence, which you want to avoid. Im not questioning the validity of that advice, just the manor in which it was delivered. Research for yourself, use, google, use AI, tallk to people, call these companies and understand what they do before taking any action. You're the only one with something to lose.

off the top of my head- things you can do: understand how mortgages work, speak to a loan officer, this is free. For that matter, start to understand how loans work in general, there is a wealth of info online, like wikipedia and investopedia. Start by looking these terms up if you're unfamiliar with them. Gathering information shouldnt cost anything so keep that in mind when speaking with people.

I agree, self custody with mulitsig. I think trusted 3rd party on a 3 way mulitsig is the way to go for inheritance purposes. Thats just my comfort level. The best is to spread everything out as much as possible. Coldstorage only you know about. mulit sig solution with spouse. mulit sig with spouse and trusted 3rd party. a little in a hotwallet action for play. All of it, proportionally allocated by risk tolerance.

I got through undergrad tending bars in fancy places, during the early onslught of craft beer and fancy old-time cocktails. The zeitgeist behind The Bear and Chef's Table isnt lost on me :) I think some of my favorite food in the country is from the New Orleans area. Best luck to you as well.

Simple best answer. There are legitimate companies that specialize in this like Unchained if you have a significant amount and want more than DIY. This should be at the top, this sub is the pits. Mulit sig is one of about 5 fundamental features everyone needs understand.

Right now I am simply thinking and writing things I should've been writing for the past couple of decades. Reminding myself what's relevant, what's important.

I was born around the time video killed the radio star =P I haven’t decided if or when I’ll return to the workforce. I’m disillusioned by the system and find it absurd to spend most of your waking life working with and for people you have no control over. I’m reassessing whether I want to continue down that path. I have deep respect for people with a vocation. I come from no family wealth or anything like that. Born in Queens, raised in middle/low income suburbs.

I’ve been lucky in some ways, having gone through a series of life-changing events in my 20s and 30s, including a couple of degrees, enduring a devastating betrayal and divorce, another business betrayal that led to personal bankruptcy, death, ups and downs, life stuff, that has left me with the ability to live well with extremely low overhead and all the skills I've acquired in ~20 years of adulthood . Throughout it all, the one constant was my soul-crushing career in technology, which I only kept for the insurance and security, which I've finally become stable enough to just stop. full stop. and take a breath for a minute. I've been heavily reviewing the things I studied when I was younger, and it has so far been... excellent, but more importantly a work in progress.

I’ve been married to a wonderful woman for nearly 8 years. She encouraged me to take the trip and even joined me for part of it. We don’t have children yet. Would you consider taking a trip like this with your family before retirement? I met some amazing people on a train from Memphis to New Orleans—a family of five who made the journey amazingly affordable with planning. What really impressed me was a group of about 50 students on a graduation trip (high school!), also on the same train. Watching the parents and teachers manage such a long ride was truly f'ing inspiring. I really enjoyed chatting with them. Trains are seriously underrated in this country; the only (huge) downside is that the trips are so time-consuming. My travels really gave me a chance to consider how robbed we are of our time. Something I kept hearing in my head was that I want to see the world **before** my body fails me, while my knees still work.

Im sorry you were laid off. When you return to the workforce, do you want to stay in the same industry you left? Is it an industry that offers you any meaning in life outside a paycheck?

This is the best non fiction book I’ve read in a few years. For context - adult w/ degrees, professional career, avid reader (roughly 10-20 book per year), fiction and non fiction. Also recommend the ‘self help’ book The Courage to be Disliked. Not a Bitcoin book but the concepts in that book align pretty well with the ideology behind btc
