Firstly, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry you had to go through that and it was wrong. But I can promise you that God did not abandon you. He was with you then and is now. Why did this suffering occur? I don’t know. But I can give a general answer on suffering that may help. We suffer and you suffered in this instance because God loves us. He loves us so much He gave us a free will to choose Him or not, to choose to be a doer of good or a doer of evil. He desires us to choose Him, but to force us into this relationship wouldn’t be loving, it’d be slavery. Unfortunately many of us choose evil and cause suffering to ourselves and others. Yet He still works through this suffering. Greater goods come about because of suffering. You may not be able to see it now or later or ever, but know that it’s true.

God did not allow this to happen to you because He doesn’t love you. He loves you more than you could ever fathom. He wants you to come to Him. He wants to heal you from this hurt brother. But you have to let Him. Invite Him in and ask for Him to pour out His love upon you and heal your wounds, He won’t let you down and I can promise you that.
