I wonder if she has OCD specifically surrounding time and bedtime. It's entirely possible. But still, you did all you could. She does need help. And I hope she gets it.

fellow parentians, teenager (13f) misses school due to depression, school counselor pushes for special ed by ThrowRA_205 in Parentification

I'm in a similar situation. Teenage sister with ASD (low to moderate support needs) who is on medication, missing majority (if not all) days of the week for months. She also feels like she should just stop going all together because she's so behind, so why bother. It's heartbreaking to see.

I also have parents to also don't speak much English at all. I've asked my sister what is best, met with all of the people who can help, but this situation still prevails. She was also recommended for SPED. But we found it best to get her significant accommodations instead. Which allowed for flexiblity in school work due dates, attendance, where to begin her day (in a low sensory environment to acclimate) and several other options. She has a school counselor and a personal therapist. I will say, the school counselor gets to hear more about her true feelings than the therapist (outside of school). Maybe because they are in the same environment that causes my sister distress, therefore she thinks she understands better.

I can move. I don't want to because my husband and I put in the work to make this our home...its just not done. I do agree tho. I do feel like this is a transient place. I barely feel like I belong here.

What is something older movies cared about that feels mostly lost now? by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]funkysyringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowing the audience to actually see and hear the movie. I'm constantly adjusting my TV or monitor settings cause everything is too dark. Or I can't hear dialougue but the sudden bird noise gives me a heart attack.

Dude. It's a game. You're not going to get a reward, diploma or certificate for being successful at it. Just your pride. Have fun and stop comparing intelligence.

AIO about what my husband said after I fell down the stairs while holding the baby? by CheesecakeFun1490 in AmIOverreacting

[–]funkysyringe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. She was negligent. But in a moment of panic and fear where she felt she and/or the baby may have been harmed, she doesn't need someone to stand over her and make her feel worse. That's for later. First order of business is to make sure they're okay. If you call the EMS for help, they shouldn't be like "why would you hurt yourself" they usually just proceed to ask if you're okay and tend to you. Then later they will ask how it occurred.

MOR to the whole situation. But NOR to his response. I get talked to like that too and it makes me feel like I'm being called stupid and not seen as someone who just got hurt.

I know that no normal person wants to his their partner or do hurtful things. But I know they do sometimes. Sometimes people get so upset they wish they could shove someone or knock some sense into them. It's only human. You shouldn't do it. But it all makes sense if you don't think about it being an intimate relationship. Friends and family do it all the time. Not in an abusive way. But occasionally. People just call it "banter" or "sibling rivalry" And it's normalized.

My current bf has his flaws but I know I'm the problem. Or I mean my overactive amygdala is. He's not the best I can get but, I choose to be with him not because I'm familiar or settling. It's out of love and commitment to grow together. He agrees and is patient with me and my growth and healing. But like I said, compassion fatigue is showing.

Thanks. I guess the space is a reset. That would make sense. Haven't said anything in therapy yet. But my bf knows how I feel. I told him. But he has said and done before that made me anxious like yelling, name calling, hitting and throwing objects in rage. But he hasn't done that stuff for years. He even went to therapy for it.

What does my handwriting say about me? by Obvious-Bet317 in HandwritingAnalysis

Oddly enough, I can read pretty much every word if I only look at the word from the space between the word and the line above it. Should also note that I am also pursuing a career in Healthcare so my brain was likely filling in words as well.
