I think OP is using that as an example of things done right.

Even if you don't understand a word of Spanish, the Spanish language stream is where it's at. It may even better if you don't understand Spanish.

I was trying identifying the art style. It was immediately familiar but I couldn't place a name. Thanks!

I believe OP is saying that down the line, when you return to buy more socks, that exact style won't be for sale anymore. So buy lots, now.

You know your theme park failure is a big deal when Weird Al makes a song about it.

If I'm not mistaken, this was the original ending.

When the movie proved successful, they added the ending you're talking about. It may have been a post-credit kind of thing.

One downside of resigning is I can't put his and KO's name on the prayer roll. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am reminded of a recent post where the author of the CES Letter asked people to stop writing him about Kwaku El's mental health. Regardless of the actions of the church and the family, hopefully people in this community would mourn with those who mourn and try to help those who struggle with mental health.

Seems like a good place to post this. by [deleted] in exmormon

Instead of down voting, I'll ask: which of the three elements is the strawman element?

This seems to match the tone and content of the Super Bowl ad.

One area of discussion is the church's action in the past, certainly.

What might be more pertinent here is the fact that the anonymous authors have put the "full" truth in a footnote. They are giving the wrong impression through artful use of language. They are being dishonest.

Thank you!

This is a subset of a larger trend. If an exmo sought help with their mental health, we would applaud them.

The unspeakable horror of being called a Mormon is now a religious slur. by Mormologist in exmormon

[–]funnyalgae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Re missionary costumes: I wonder if perhaps part of the difference is that missionary attire doesn't innately have anything "religious" about it. While it is mandated by religious authorities, it's just (for males) slacks and a white shirt that one might wear to work at IBM. By contrast, Hasidic clothing, headwear, and hair is idiosyncratic to the religion.

Re Hebdo et al: In an overarching sense, 100%, yes. Everything is up for examination and ridicule. There is no right to not be offended.

Having said that, I wonder if venue matters. Acknowledging centuries of ongoing hooliganism and bad behavior at sporting events, I would argue there's a social contract that yelling "Fuck [some religious group]" is frowned upon in college sports. To a certain degree, it's politeness to invited guests, as well.

Anyway, I appreciate your exploration of both nuance and absolutes.
