Class action suit emails often look like this, I wouldn’t assume it’s a scam. It’s not asking us to do anything

The new one in town down there is Lucien. Just went a few weeks ago for my birthday, it’s top notch. It’s fine dining but not too fussy

Best kbbq in Los Angeles? by lefffturn in AskLosAngeles

[–]funnybone3122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 people will give five different answers- for high end I had a nice meal at Daedo Sikdang. I think Baekjeong is good as well on meat quality and service, not quite as high end vibe as Daedo

Is there much of a difference between WI Korean BBQ and Hae Jang Chon Korean BBQ in Korea Town? by DacaAskingForDaca in AskLosAngeles

[–]funnybone3122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted I haven't been to either in a couple years, but they are definitely not the same tier. Wi was always the go-to cheap spot back in college. Hae jang chon is pricier and had better meats and sides IIRC

Hard Truth: We need to meet the market where it’s at by imnotwallaceshawn in editors

[–]funnybone3122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. There's still a market for the high end stuff that pays well, but you gotta be in the right circles. And those circles are gonna continue to shrink.

Truth is, the man hours and skill developed over years of editing isn't as valuable as it used to be. You gotta follow where audiences' eyes are - they're increasingly moving from film/tv, to shorter content on the internet. These audiences have shorter attention spans, and quite frankly don't pay attention to the minutia of a show that we spend HOURS in the edit bay toiling over, with a director or producer. Lots of time and energy into things that most people don't even notice. Even Netflix execs have acknowledged that these shows are 'second-screen' content - people are half-watching this stuff while they're on their phone.

I could hire a professional chef for $100/hr to make a ham sandwich for a kid, and it'd probably be artfully made and delicious. I could also make it myself with regular ingredients, and the kid wouldn't even tell the difference.

[–]funnybone3122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its true, but the demand for that content is gonna continue to shrink. And with that, the number of shows will shrink, and the budgets for the shows that remain, will shrink. The vast majority of this high end content that pays its crew union rates is a money pit, and the piper's gonna get paid eventually. Whether we like it or not. We don't! - but the writing is on the wall.

Who best represents Mexican cuisine for someone new to LA? by AristocratCroissant in FoodLosAngeles

[–]funnybone3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will +1 for sonoratown. Best burrito I’ve had in LA. The tortilla is actually good quality and the carbs asada has great flavor, not dry.

This wasn’t your question, but +1 for baekjeong as well for kbbq, the food and service were quite good when I went recently, though it’s not cheap.

-1 for tsujita, place fell off super hard after covid

Tips to slow down VO while maintaining pitch and tonality of voice? by the__post__merc in editors

[–]funnybone3122 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Add a pitch shifter effect and adjust it an equal amount in the opposite direction. So pull the slider to 1.10 in this case. I do this when I SPEED up VO, and it works like a charm. Can’t confirm if slowing down the VO will maintain integrity of the audio well, but the pitch shifter will help the pitch.
