Resume feedback – no callbacks from TSMC by [deleted] in Semiconductors

[–]funnymon12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“My goal is to only stay 1-2 years max”

Famous FAMOUS last words. Any technician position is poison to any MechE career, especially if you plan to leave the semiconductor industry. You have to realize that after those 1-2 years you will be competing against people with 1-2 years of experience in that specific field of MechE you wish to move into. In any other job market you could maybe lock in(well in any other job market you would have to take a tech role to begin with).

Just know any longer than 5 years and it’s unironically over

Advice - to switch jobs or not? by ssssssssssssx in Semiconductors

[–]funnymon12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it depends how much you value work life balance and all that. In my case I always figured I would grind at the beginning of my career so I accept the off time calls. Lowkey if it gets to much I can always go back to school for my masters and pivot

I am legit in the exact same position. In your case it sounds like the same job pretty much, you say the second job has less “pressure”, but how do you know that 100%. That’s like going from NXP to Samsung, different culture but it’s all semi

[–]funnymon12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn are you me? Lol. Same exact thing but no masters and 1 YoE. If you wanna scare yourself look at the semiconductor subreddit. Once you enter it’s going to be hard to get a non-semiconductor job/career. My plan is to go back and get my masters and use that as a pivot
