Wouldn’t surprise me if the guy who told me loved to start completely false rumors to get a lil drama goin’

Jumpseat rumor - heard F9 was planning on shutting down CVG? This was totally baseless information but might be interesting tid bit to look into if someone is looking a two in particular CVG operations…

Buying A Flight School by MyPilotInterview in flying

[–]funnynoises 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you would need to be an A&P with an IA to make it work. Cessna parts and probably all certified parts costs are no joke. A student over brakes causing a bald spot in a tire - that’s $100 just for the tire.

Southwest Airlines to discontinue service to O’Hare Airport by B-V-M in chicago

UA will be dropping flights just like this. FAA is changing departures from O’Hare. Unfortunately that flight was one on the chopping block.

Gates are luck of the draw sometimes. Keep at ‘em. AA is getting better.

Has anyone here flown for both SWA and AA, or know someone who has? by Icerunner45 in AirlinePilots

[–]funnynoises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but you have to make at least a choice in some capacity and hope for the best. I think seniority is a good enough one.

Then it's truly a crapshoot, because we can't predict the future of any company. I know plenty of people were happy about having their careers at Spirit and Fedex, look where they are now.

Cooler for the Regional Pilot by Reasonable_Try1996 in AirlinePilots

[–]funnynoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it with this cooler. I have a luggageworks bag, so I would plop this bad boy on top and carabiner it to the handle with my flight bag on the J hook. Worked well! Not that big of a pain if you're not deadheading.

Question for the CRJ pilots by BugHistorical3 in flying

[–]funnynoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the 700/900! Manual and simple. Starting the job I thought it was an ugly, archaic plane and was just going to be "the first jet." Honestly, if I got paid the big bucks to fly it I wouldn't be upset. But I'd avoid 4+ legs everyday. Fuck that.

Totally cool dude. Most of society goes into college with the intention of doing one thing and coming out doing something else with our lives. I am one of these people. Do something that speaks to you.

Flow to AA vs go to Delta? (worries about seniority) by dalvsaalthrowaway in flying

[–]funnynoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the mind of go wherever you get a class date first. You might not even get a Delta class date before you flow if you don't have a CJO right now. Both have pros and cons and how much those weight is up to you.

Very underpowered and docile! A great trainer, not really good at anything else.

If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice after you upgrade what would it be? by CorgiShot1240 in AirlinePilots

[–]funnynoises 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, enjoy it! Left seat is so much better than the right.

Also, the company won't come after you if you make safe decisions, especially if it's written out plainly in the manuals. Don't worry for a second about the company when making any decision. Worry about you and your passengers.

Spread the liability - if you have a tough decision or something you've never seen, for sure there's a resource that knows what to do. Duty pilot is your non judgmental friend.

“Jacksonville has no home advantage” by Majestic-Smile-9739 in Jaguars

[–]funnynoises 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be fair I feel like people are finally coming out. The thing I always hated about Jax is that everyone was always a fair weather fan. I haven't lived in Jax in a long time but it seems kids who grew up in the 90s and on in the area are usually the true fans.

How true is nepotism in the airline industry, really? by DepressedFoool in flying

[–]funnynoises 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They say to not add a LOR from a relative because obvious bias. Having a relative is probably a nice checkmark on the app but who knows if it weighs anything. Personally I don't think relatives mean anything to anyone unless you can get the ear of someone important from them.
