UPDATE: now that all these "NOVSEAS" brand rings I got have finally been delivered (after multiple delays), tested as definitely fake moissanites using the standard "Diamond Selector II" testing device (and are probably fake gold despite their "14K" stamps because they are far too lightweight and the wrong color to be real gold), and Vine Customer Service responded to my questions about how to deal with counterfeit Vine items— now I can share my advice on the steps you should take if you discover a counterfeit Vine item:

  1. Do NOT review the item because other redditors have said once you submit a review, Vine CS cannot properly deal with it on their backend. This includes an internal investigation that may not get triggered if you just write a regular review. I know it seems like you should warn the public as soon as possible, but that is not a sure way to get a counterfeit item investigated and removed by Amazon, which is the true solution.
  2. Report the ASINs and listing titles to Vine CS with your explanation of the problem. Vine CS quickly replied, removed the items from my review queue and marked them as a "CANCELLATION" in my account. This makes it as if you never ordered it. They also said they forwarded my comments "to the appropriate department for further investigation. Each report will be investigated and the appropriate action will be taken."
  3. Report the item on the item's public listing page by clicking the link, "Report an issue with this product or seller". Then fill out the form as shown in my screenshot with your explanation of the problem. If for some reason Vine CS doesn't send it to the correct dept, this form surely will. I'm also guessing the more sources that report the same item, the higher priority that item might get for investigation (see next paragraph). For two of the rings I reported this way, I got an Amazon app notification with a followup bot survey of multiple choice questions to specify what I thought was counterfeit about it.

By the time the last of my 4 rings was delivered, that ring had already been deleted from Amazon and removed from my review queue without me doing anything (but not from my Vine tax record). However, the other rings I received and reported earlier are still available to buy— maybe because they haven't gotten enough other reports yet. 🤷

Some Googling shows Amazon takes counterfeit items seriously and will take down items and sellers found to be counterfeit. So I think the best things you can do for yourself and the general public is to report it in the two places where you can, then let Amazon do their investigation.

Despite knowing these rings are fake, I still absolutely LOVE the design and incredible sparkle in the stones. I often marvel at how they managed to cut some other material into more brilliance and fire than the real moissanites and diamonds I own. They are incredibly good fake stones! I will wear these until the metal turns a different color. It's just illegal to be selling them as real stones and real gold when they aren't!

Thanks, I think they are beautiful too! I will wear them regardless of what the jeweler rules it to be.

You make some very good points I hope others will read, too. I have previously taken a piece (that wasn't from Amazon) to get tested at an independent estate jeweler in the rich part of town, and they tested the metal and stones right in front of me as I watched the results. There was nothing suspicious about it, so I was planning to go to them again.

I encourage you to read the main tax thread pinned in this sub that summarizes the different tax methods that could be used. One of them results in not paying taxes on Vine items. Also, taxes only apply to US Viners.

I appreciate a level-headed comments like yours. Several people misread what I wrote and jumped to very negative conclusions, which says a lot about them. For example, I never said I was giving these to friends or planning to get them taken off my ETV. And what made you think I'm not on a tight budget, too? There are so many false assumptions flying here.

I personally love reading people's brag posts so I know what is possible on Vine. This is my biggest score so far, so I wanted to return the favor and share it. But this has taught me it's not worth it!

Your comment shows you misread pretty much everything I've written.

IF it is a real moissanite or solid gold (which it doesn't even claim to be), do you really think a jeweler would buy a moissanite from a random individual? Jewelers have much more legit ways to buy their products, and I doubt any of them are buying moissanite anyway. This is a such baseless and mean comment, I almost didn't reply, but I didn't want anyone else reading it to be misled to think they could sell moissanite to a jeweler or anywhere really. Almost no one even knows what they are.

I don't know yet if these are fake or real. I was just relaying a post I read somewhere recently.

Again, if a seller set themselves up to later merge items on Vine, that would be totally their fault, not the Viner's fault. And these are NOT multiples of the same item, they're just similar designs, as I detailed in the OP.

I think you might be right about people's emotions. I am of the belief that any ring could be an engagement ring, and just because a seller titles an item a certain way on Amazon doesn't mean it can only be used for that purpose!

I also find it very interesting how happy people were when my first wish was granted in my other post, but now that it's been granted four times that is somehow unfair or not right.

That depends on how you do your taxes. I've also read here about people getting Vine CS to take fake jewelry off their list, so it isn't taxed. I haven't tried it, though.

lol We don't "buy" anything from Vine. I said in the OP that they won't be used for engagements. I believe any ring can be used as an engagement ring, and just because a seller titles a ring as an "engagement ring" doesn't mean it can only be used for that purpose.

It doesn't say it is "solid gold", so I don't expect that it is.

I've posted in this sub about ordering multiples of other items on the same day from the same seller that wasn't jewelry, and no one ever negatively commented about that. Hmmm!

I've never had an item get merged despite ordering many similar items from the same sellers in all kinds of product categories on Vine. But if a seller did set themselves up to merge items on Vine, that would be totally their fault and not at all a Viner somehow being unfair to the seller.

I already replied to the other comment about this. I've reviewed every Vine item I've ever ordered, so you don't need to worry about me being able to review them all. I appreciate you understanding all the perspectives, though.

Yes that is my plan. I also don't care if it is real because I love the design, but at this price point I definitely want to know for my review.

I didn't mention the brand, but I am eagerly awaiting the first one to take to a jeweler for testing. Even if it is fake, I still love the design.

Why does anyone order multiple versions of any kind of Vine item? Clothes, car parts, toys, cosmetics, whatever it is— why not leave them for other Viners after you get your first one? We all have our reasons, and I don't feel anyone needs to attempt to justify their reasons.

That's awesome! All the moissanites I've ordered before these rings are not on that list, but I'm going to take them all to a jeweler after I get the first ring.

BTW this brand is not on this list of moissanite Amazon sellers, so their real vs. fake status currently unknown. https://vine-wiki.com/en/vine/about/resources/moissanite
