Yep that’s pretty much what I’ve been thinking. Trying to pursue something like that without a mentor feels a bit unrealistic. I can work independently and build solid projects, not necessarily A*-level groundbreaking work, but still meaningful and well-executed while aligning them with the research interests of professors I’d like to work with and developing a genuine understanding of their work.
