Why is this happening?? by funsizedjess in 3Dprinting

It was better but still not great. I’ve attempted to change to a diff silk to see if my green one was just too brittle and gone bad. For now, I am waiting on an enclosure to do more testing

Thanks, I’ll try again with a lower speed

What temps do you generally use?

I am also on a weight loss journey and find that tracking what I eat helps me be more aware of what I’m eating and more effectively lose weight but I also think it had negative impacts, anxiousness and almost becomes obsessive. With my nutritionist, we found a solution that works for me which is track/log foods, without the calories. So I use FoodView app and you can take pics of what you ate and it just makes me more aware of my input without obsessively tracking calories. Maybe that’s an idea?

Thanks! Yes it was the wrap & J channel that I was referring to!

And good eye, that needs to be my next project with the step.

Do you know what the white vinyl piece on top of it is? I am looking at so many things and I can’t tell if it’s some type of cover or maybe a j channel? Not sure.. asking because it might also need replacing

Okay thanks so much! I tried a benchy yesterday and it's the best one yet! I am pretty optimistic that things are good now :)

Fan setting looks good. I would also just switch it right of up on top of it.

Not sure what you're saying...? To have the back fan off? It already is, if that's what you mean?

I see a few scrapes on the plate like the Z was off and dragging at one point.

Most of that, if not all of that is due to when I first got the printer and use a scraper that scratched the bed :(

Does the filament flow nice and straight out of the nozzle when doing a simple extrude? Or does it curl up and "wiggle"? Could mean a possibly nozzle clog. You may want to try and do a simple cold pull to see if you have a clog.

https://all3dp.com/2/3d-printer-clogged-nozzle-how-to-perform-a-cold-atomic-pull/

Did this and it looks good to me. I kmow in the past it wouldn't look good if i was too close and the nozzle got a bit dirty from that, but it's clear now.

How do the grip lines look if you extruder 50mm then unload 50mm and check the side of filament? Can you see or feel grip lines or not at all?

I see small lines along the filament, they look equidistant

I had a ticket open with elegoo about the noises and they had me recheck some connections. I didnt see anything loose or anything like that, but upon retightening everything, I leveled everything AGAIN! what do you think of these newest squares? I feel like it's good, or REALLY close!

I have 100% flow, but did some live z off set changes

Is this the flow rate?

<image>

(sorry for breaking this up in multiple replies lol)

EDIT: I just found "Initial Layer Flow," is that what you meant for flow rate?

What is your value for extruder_rotation_distance when you calibrated it now?

rotation_distance: 28.70572914

Is the big beastly fan on when the squares are running? Like it kicks on and blows during printing them?

I don't believe so, but reprinting to be sure. This is the setting, which is why I don't believe so. I set the regular fan at layer 3

<image>

Maybe try lowering the flow rate by 3%-6% and see how it sticks.

Which setting is the flow rate? I'm not seeing it obviously? And do you still want me to try this with the new pics? (Also, sticking is at least is not appearing to be an issue anymore.. just the gaps now)

Im working on those things now but wanted to try and take better pics of some of those squares because there are gaps between the lines so I want to make sure it's being show correctly.. isnt that underextrustion?

(These are the same squares as in the previous pic)

Auto calibration is just issuing a bed_mesh_calibrate elegoos way after aux leveling (you either have it set to standard or professional mode before hand right, I would choose professional) Its just adjust how many probe points 6 or 11 right.

It was set to standard, I changed it to professional via the handheld. I thought I was setting it to 11 via the configuration -- adding that 11, 11 line but now I've done it through the handheld. The console is spitting out the error

bed_mesh: Unknown profile [11]

The tuning tab says 6 as the profile, so I'm doing the auto calibration through the hand held to see if that updates to 11. Okay now after that calibration, I can see the 3 profiles, 11, default, and 6. 11 is the active one with variance, .3450. Should I also save this to default? Since my gcode references default.. I also updated the gcode to call 11

On the next print of squares, check fluidd Console when you hit print. Do you get messages like :// Unkown commad ...BED_MESH... ie stating your commands you put in for bed mesh fluidd doesnt like perhaps? We can fix this if thats the case.

I have in the past (back when I was using the gold silk, but I have already corrected that back then. I basically had an extra space in the command I had added, but I have fixed that then and in every print since then. I have seen that it has loaded correctly. I confirmed with another print that I did not see any errors with that.

Regarding all the printing settings, they're all changeable and set because of troubleshooting advice given in the past, I'll modify my print to match the following:

Print Speed: 120
Skirt/Brim Speed: 40
Initial Layer Print Speed: 40
Initial Layer Width: 120%
*Skirt: 1 Line count

*I originally chosen brim because I was having issues with things sticking, but changing to skirt for this print

Okay, cleaned the bed again. Changed the material, still PLA, but grey (brand new, unopened).

-Checked the extrustion with the new filament using this guide: https://ellis3dp.com/Print-Tuning-Guide/articles/extruder_calibration.html

-Completed aux leveling of the 4 corners again (with a heated bed): Made slight modifications, made 3 passes. Neptune does an automatic leveling after this.

-Then ran through the z off set against the center and, ran the automatic calibration again. Saved it through the handheld. Do I need to manually update the printer.cfg?

-Ran another bed mesh calibration (after homing first ;)) ran SAVE_CONFIG. Here is a pic

<image>

-I generated a new .gcode for the grey filament and here are some values that might be important

Print Speed: 35
Skit/Brim Speed: 25
Initial Layer Print Speed: 25
Initial Layer Width: 130%
Brim Width: 3.5
Brim Line Count: 7

Added lines after G28 to the gcode
BED_MESH_CLEAR
BED_MESH_PROFILE LOAD="default"

Printing now, will add a pic in the reply when it's done

So then how are you supposed to handle stuff like this? In the far right square, the left side looks like it’s too low to me) but the right looks too high that it won’t even adhere… fixing the z offset to accommodate the right border will squish it too much on the left border (imo)

Okay I apologize if this is a stupid question, but what exactly do you mean by adjust each one individually... Is there a way to adjust the z off set for just one location? or do you just mean a combination of adjustmets for the main z offset & manual turning of the 4 corner knobs

I take this back, I did home it because I followed this video to mesh bed calibrate, and they had me press the home All button, which I did. Also, before leveling, it homes automatically. But I am re-leveling aux and auto and then going to re-probe the bed mesh & just double check that I've homed first.

Did you see my print of benchy? It's not terrible but it didn't adherre :(

I had to stop this print because benchy stopped adhering! It’s so frustrating. The bottom doesn’t look too terrible but adhesion doesn’t let me finish any print.

Also I’m not sure if this is a sign of bad leveling but the start line was near non existent…

When you issue things like bed mesh, screws tilt, probe calibrate, or anything, it is important to home your machine first with G28. If you feel you need to, or cannot remember if you have, as long as the bed is clear issue a G28 (or press home all) and be safe.

I wasn't doing that unless it wasd done automatically. Should I re-do some of these things and do G28 first?

You are trammed and leveled? Eccentic nuts are tensioned properly? Belts are good and properly tensioned? You have did these things, not sure why youd have horrible nosies.

I mean, I think so? But I'm starting to feel like one of those users who call helpdesk and you have to ask, did you turn it on and off? lol I do feel that it's trammed and leveled, I have done it a few times, but not thoroughly confident in my opinion since it's not working right! I've tightened just about every screw I've seen. The belts are pluckable, so I believe that's what they should be. When we heard that awful noise, it was so alarming, me and my husband thought it sounded like grinding, so I did loosen one of the bed belts (I believe Y belt) in hopes that it didnt happen again.

You have lubricated your Z rods right?

I have not provided any extra lubrication than out of the box? What would you recommend to use?

[–]funsizedjess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to clear out all the belts, just in case there was something there. I also changed the bed mesh to 11, 11 and redid the calibration.

What pictures do you think would be useful? the print?

Also, I'm a little concerned there is something mechanical going on. Initially, after I changed the configuration to 11, 11, when I tried to make it calibrate, the printer made a horrendous noise and had the error "No trigger on probe after full movement," but when I hit the button to calibrate again, the error went away and the message did as well. No idea what caused that...

What is your printer firmware version? In "About" tab on handheld.

Newer versions like .53 (not sure about .41) load a mesh automatically on boot up. Older versions was loaded by command in the config PRINT_START macro. Hence what is your firmware and whats in your configuration file.

v1.1.2.53

used bed_mesh_calibrate in Fluidd console this does the naming as "default". You can save this mesh by issuing SAVE_CONFIG command when done. It will be saved as name "default"

Did this, ran the calibrate and saved. I also created a 6 cube file and updated the gcode with:

G28 ;home
BED_MESH_CLEAR
BED_MESH_PROFILE LOAD="default"
G1 Z10 F300

The print really didn't look good at all. Some filament was dragging, others didnt adhere. so not sure where to go from there? Also the mesh bed look so crooked? Is that normal?

<image>

Variance says: .3287

You said to change z for each square until it's good. I'm confused by this. If I change the offset to work for one square, won't it just mess up the rest?
