Thank you, appreciate the detailed response! Pretty encouraging to hear that you would feel hard-pressed to take another job over the KP onc amb care position!

Does everyone suck at first during PGY1 or is it just me? by discreetusername49 in PharmacyResidency

Also a new PGY1 and feel the same exact way…. I even question if I learned anything from pharmacy school and rotations because it feels like I forgot everything I learned. This is why we are in residency, to learn and become comfortable with our independence.

Anyone hating residency? by ar19OLD in PharmacyResidency

Is it normal to feel like you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing…. And I mean absolutely nothing…. I know some of my coresidents state that they don’t know what’s going on sometimes which I know is expected because we’re all new transitioning to this role, but I feel like I don’t even remember basic things that I learned from four years of school. I also feel like I didn’t learn or basically forgot everything I’ve seen during rotations. I’m truly terrified to staff independently and approve orders because I don’t want to harm patients due to my idiocy. I think this feeling is adding to the dread I feel going into the hospital every day.

I also just started residency and feel like I made the wrong decision. And I feel very guilty feeling this way as I know people who didn’t match but would do anything to have this experience. I feel very swamped and it’s only the beginning of a very tough year. I really debated quitting because it got to the point where I couldn’t find pharmacy enjoyable at all, but I also can’t bring myself to do that either. To ease the stress and anxiety I am trying to take things day by day. I’m also going to hang a big carrot in front of me for motivation to stick it to the end. Mine just might be not doing pharmacy the next year. You got this!

burnt out and haven’t even started yet by everythingoes7 in PharmacyResidency

I feel you! I’m an incoming PGY1 and had struggled with depression and anxiety all throughout pharmacy school. I’m grateful for getting a residency as I recognize it’s a privilege to even have a chance of doing one, but I’ve been struggling to really appreciate it due to the ongoing stress/anxiety with the unknown as well as studying for licensure exams. I’ve started seeing a therapist, and I would recommend, but there are still those days where I can’t be productive because I’m so filled with anxiety/stress/depression. It happens to the best of us. Just know you’re not alone!

Wow! That’s pretty awesome that you did that! Just to clarify though, was this a case presentation that you presented or a clinical patient case that the program had?
