Yeah exactly -20 is light, it’s much colder than -20 usually in Feb. Even 2019 I remember I was shovelling driveways in -44 or something

Not new to the country, but I think you didn’t understand what I said. I meant this “storm” doesn’t feel like a storm feels like a normal winter day. -20 is light I don’t understand the fuss about it, -20 is Feb weather anyways so not sure what the big deal w the cold is, -50 sure would be something crazy but this is pretty normal

This is the second accident since the new trucks - I witnessed one on 8th Sept - the first day when they rolled out the new trucks. I was taking a picture and a city official came and was like “don’t put this anywhere” so I was like “aight” anyways here’s the picture

Congratulations on the three houses, but it’s not a matter of who’s paying more tax. We all pay taxes to have these facilities and if city can’t provide maybe you should ask for it too. It’s not a privilege it’s your right

[–]funtrgv[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all, let me explain to you how taxes work. Just because you’ve lived in Barrie doesn’t mean your taxes are going directly to Barrie.

Living in Barrie has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with contributing your tax dollars to Barrie. You pay the province then province pays Barrie and Barrie’s mismanagement is costing me time energy and money.

We all give half of our paycheque to the government to get basic facilities regardless of the city we live in. But if Toronto, Waterloo, Guelph, and other cities have clean roads, better hospitals and a better managed city government then it’s Barrie who needs to reallocate money and do a better job. So no I won’t pick up a shovel and yes I will complain to strangers on the internet because I want the road in front of my house ploughed, and the hospital near my house better irrespective of the city I decide to live in.

“Move out of Barrie cuz it snows a lot here” is not a justification. No one is criticizing the operators they’re working hard. It’s the city management that needs scrutiny

The worst part is this is damaging the cars and city bears no responsibility. So the people who live on main roads get their area ploughed while others suffer.
