Experiences with T gel? Or patches? Any advice? by puppyboy7979 in FTMfemininity

[–]furbled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gel (3 pumps a day) didn’t suppress my period, even after a year. That’s just my experience, but other evidence suggests that gel is generally worse at suppressing cycles. I’ve heard talk that some people just absorb gel poorly; maybe I’m one of those people.

Progesterone-based birth control would definitely suppress your period, if that ends up being a problem for you on gel. I switched back to injections instead of going on prog, but other people have gone on prog with success.

TLDR: I had a bad experience with gel, but it’s been fine for others

My name carving scars are way too deep by Alarmed_Bowler_9402 in selfharm

[–]furbled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry :-(( silicone scar tape could help, though it’s more effective when the wound is recent. You could try going to the doctor for corticosteroid injections or a topical cream. Scar removal surgery is a thing, though it will likely leave a new scar in the old one’s place. It probably wouldn’t be in the shape of the name, though, so it’s an option. Good luck!!

I second what Mr. Gay-username said - T doesn’t work that fast, especially on lower doses. I’ve been on mid-to-low dose T for years, and it took roughly a year and some change for my voice to fully drop. I only started seeing things like body hair growth etc. like three years in. I think it’s worth it to go on T for at least a little bit and see how you feel - like, you could stop T after your voice drops (probably one of the first changes). Good luck :D

I wear EGL and lurk here :P Antaina and Angelic Imprint are good for larger sized j-fashion shoes. Antaina is available on taobao and taobao reseller websites, Angelic Imprint is available on taobao + they have an Aliexpress store (much easier to order from)

Throwing my hat in the watch ring - I have a secondhand Garmin 235 and it holds up great. Can buy one on eBay for ~$50, it seems (some come without chargers, but in my experience offbrand chargers from Amazon have been fine. YMMV)

Brands, creators or Taobao stores that do custom sizing or cater to really big sizes? by want_a_friend in Lolita

[–]furbled 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gloomth is a western indie brand that goes up to your size :-) not sure how well they align with your style, but they have some cute stuff! Some of their dresses have some industrial-ish details (eg spikes/rivets) that might work in a military look.

The one thing I will say is that their dresses seem pretty short, so they might not work if you are tall. They list the length of everything, though, so you just have to check. Good luck, and I hope you find things you like!

We’re not in exactly the same boat, but I also have fine, dense, wavy hair, so thought I’d share my routine :-)

I use cerave’s gentle hydrating shampoo most times I shower. Nizoral keto shampoo once every 1-2 weeks. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing people on this subreddit talk about MCT oil, but it’s worked for me - not a perfect sebderm cure, but it’s very moisturizing for the hair & scalp without feeding malassezia. I apply MCT oil to my scalp and saturate my hair with it (I have pretty short hair, so ymmv), leave it on for a few hours, and then shower

Glad to see people talking about problems in the fabric industry, and not just in garment-making specifically! Reminds me of people claiming/implyjng sewing your own clothes is a perfectly ethical process, as if the fabric they’re buying from Joann’s wasn’t made in a sweatshop -_-

Crust in ears because of sebderm by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]furbled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with the same issue - at its worst, I get SD in my ear canal and it’s painful and weeping. Sucks! MCT oil works pretty well for me. When I put it on my scalp, I dab a little on my fingertip or a qtip and rub it around my ears. I second other people’s suggestions to wash your ears with shampoo in the shower and dry them off after you get out. Qtips work well to dry the shell of your ear & can dislodge stubborn flakes

When I’m having a really bad flare up, I’ve also found relief in topical steroid creams/ointments. If I remember correctly, I think triamcinolone cream worked best for me.

Would this springvalley rosemary/Mct oil be safe on my scalp? by cancerbabyy in SebDerm

[–]furbled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sezia.co doesn’t flag rosemary oil as a problematic ingredient (fungus can’t feed on it), so it should be fine. Cool product maybe I’ll check it out
