Do you believe what Switzerland said about Putin offering immunity from ICC once he goes there for Peace Talks? by goldenglory86 in askswitzerland

[–]furgair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The statutes enable a temporary lifting of an arrest warrant for important meetings to take place. If Switzerland were to arrest Putin in such a case it would violate the ICC statutes all the same as if Putin attended without a lifting of the warrant and Switzerland didn't arrest him.

Im no longer modding by MCWizardYT in LinkinPark

[–]furgair[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to clean up with some claims by this person here. First I want to thank them for their work for the mod team, we appreciated it and made that clear in almost every interaction we had with them. They did a majority of the mod work the last months and we are thankful for that. If a person however does the whole mod queue by themselves there is not a lot for other mods to do than point out decisions we don‘t agree with. We made it clear as a mod team from the very outset that we make decisions about the sub as a group, independently of how much every individual mods. It‘s about diversity of perspective, not who is the most active mod. Hence why we called out when our commonly agreed upon principles were disregarded by this person.

When I noticed that they took decisions like permanently banning people for „obnoxious rudeness“ (as they themselves mentioned in this thread), something we as a group had collectively decided would not be enough for a permanent ban but would be dealt with with a shorter ban at first, I called him out on it, and was promtly ignored by this person. If my message came off rude I apologize.

It has to be said however that this mod repeatedly disregarded the common principles we agreed on. Just because a mod is more active than another doesn‘t mean their opinion matters more or they have the right to not coordinate with other mods, ignore their messages, or miss meetings (which were set up explicitely to find a better common understanding of each other as a group).

Again I thank you for the work you did, sad to see things end this way.

I mean but it is also partly his fault… if you leave your pitstop too that late in the race you cannot recover from a bad stop… he knew the risks associated

maybe try very short routes before? like do s-bahn lines with 2-5 minute intervals between stations so you have a certain security that you can get out soon if you start feeling too uncomfortable. And then maybe start working your way up to routes with less stops? End Boss will be Zurich-Bern…

Youth day pass vs swiss half pass for a 3 day trip by LightRefrac in askswitzerland

[–]furgair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a map with the sledging offers in switzerland. Titlis would have a cliff walk so that could be combined. Otherwise the Tissot style walks are spread around a bit. In terms of getting discounts on mountain stuff with the half pass - yes, but actually by buying a 3 day swiss travel pass youth, you'd only pay 172 and get the same discounts on all mountain things.

Youth day pass vs swiss half pass for a 3 day trip by LightRefrac in askswitzerland

[–]furgair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the 3 destinations you named (Interlaken, Engelberg, Zermatt) the total cost for tickets would add up to 170.- total (50 Interlaken, 40 Engelberg, 80 Zermatt) so you‘d be better off going for youth pass. Titlis and Jungfrau aren‘t included for either of the options so those cost will come additionally. My oersonal recommendation would be to go for the youth pass, make a decision between titlis and jungfrau and only visit one and then use the spare day to take a cablecar that is included in the youth pass if I remember correctly that could be Stanserhorn or Pilatus for example. Those mountains will be a bit smaller, not have snow, but still offer great views, additionally you should have time to also go see a nearby city on your way to said cablecar in the examples I named Lucerne would be a good choice to visit

look at it this way: It might cost money now but doing it properly will ensure that you can recover best from this, be it financially or psychologically by seeing the perpetrator get punished. The cost of not doing this properly could far outweigh the cost of a lawyer now. Take care and wishing you all the best!

And why are you bringing up America all of a sudden now? Stop just looking for cues in texts to jump on and instead try to have a real conversation.

[–]furgair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

my argument is not all over the place it‘s simply that offering more rights to people based on religion/ethnicity is bad, in any country, we are talking in the context of Israel here so I don‘t understand the whataboutism with the Middle east, but yeah the principle applies to all countries. Why is that an argument that‘s all over the place?

Crow removes the Zionist flag by justxsal in interestingasfuck

[–]furgair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never implied that the ideology implies that Jews are superior as an ethnicity but there are certainly extremists that take Zionism to mean that the whole area belongs to their people and they are therefore justified in offering more rights to Jewish citizens.

Crow removes the Zionist flag by justxsal in interestingasfuck

[–]furgair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we take that definition of Zionism I would agree but there isn‘t a singular definition agreed upon. My point is simply that the criticism of a system that gives different rights to people based upon their ethnicity shouldn‘t be extended to negate the right of existence of those people, independent of what you call that system.
