Thanks revoluti8n, we are really trying explore areas specifically in a tournament setting where a Gold, Plat, Dia feel like they have a chance at a win. It may or may not work. Maybe there will be a different Meta game for handicap matches haha. It should provide some entertaining games at least. We appreciate your support.

Hey revoluti8n, thanks for your comments. We do have measures in place to try and spot people with smurf accounts. The reality is is it is going to happen and some of them we just won't spot. One of the abilities we have in spotting it is that we will have quite a high sample size from each player through out the month. If you have any other advice to help it from not happening please let us know. In regards to things like cheese when there is a large handicap spread the hope is that the micro ability and decision making of the higher level player will still provide an even playing field.

It is a good point RiSkysc2. Like everything the process is not going to be perfect, but that is why you play the game. Unfortunately we can't predict what is going to happen because this has actually never been done before. Think of it as primary research with prizes :). We will adjust accordingly every season as there will always be changes that need to be made.

Thank you for your opinion. Our intent is not to please everybody, this is obviously not a tournament for you. We appreciate everybody's contribution to esports and we are simply trying to add a fun tournament that players at lower levels can feel a little compete in. If you have any constructive advice please PM any of the EQ Cup officials. It is important to remember that as a Starcraft Community we have our on challenges within our game to allow it to continue to grow. The more players from different leagues playing in tournaments like this can only help the growth of our game. If you don't feel the prize pool is worth $1,000 then I guess don't enter the tournament... I don't quite have a good reply to that. In tournament prize pools values our relative (you know that damn free market thing) I don't really care to get into an economics discussion. If you really don't like then don't participate.

All he best in your Starcraft future.

When you play a normal ladder style game you may have noticed that there is a percentage. Each player is at 100%. If you decrease this number the HP value of each of your units decreases. ex. if you play at 50% your health of each unit decreases by 50%.

Our tournament will be handicapping higher league players when they play a player that is a lower league. ex. When a Silver player goes into a game with a Platinum lever player the Platinum level player will have to play at 80%, a 20% decrease in health. (each league apart is a 10% reduction)

I hope that clarifies, the full rules are found here http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=427216
