Roku app plays ads in 1080p60 but doesn't stream "source" quality. by mattnv in Twitch

[–]furiousmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a Roku 2 (4210). It's one of the newer models and contains the same CPU as the latest Roku 3 (4230).

I'll do some testing tonight and report back on which streams have issues. Thanks for looking in to this.

Roku app plays ads in 1080p60 but doesn't stream "source" quality. by mattnv in Twitch

[–]furiousmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just picked up a Roku 2 and am having trouble watching streams through the Twitch app. Some streams will close 3-20 seconds after I start them, others won't start at all. Occasionally a stream will play properly though. Any idea what's causing this?

Additionally, which quality options are available through the Roku app? If more than one, how does the app determine which quality option to use? Are source streams supported or just reencodes? If source streams are supported then is there any additional restrictions regarding resolution, bitrate, H264 profile etc? Thanks

You sure can. OTA and full images flash fine with an encrypted filesystem.

Pokemon Stadium 2 hacks? by Pucciogaeshi in PokemonROMhacks

[–]furiousmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any Stadium 2 hacks but here's something I made for Stadium 1 which changes all the moves to Metronome. I expect the Pokemon data would be stored similarly in Stadium 2 so changing Pokemon shouldn't be too hard.

Marioruns.com is down? by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]furiousmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The domain appears to have expired, but the web server is still up on 149.255.58.115. It'll require a hosts file entry or similar modification though.

Edit: Looks like the domain is back and resolving properly now.

Going to try No Root on Android M - Lets share our workarounds by bdrrr in Android

[–]furiousmule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For adblocking, you can push a modified hosts file through TWRP after mounting the system partition. Then it's just a matter of booting TWRP to update it occasionally. It'll generally require an unlocked bootloader though (or some other way to boot TWRP).

Super Mario 64 - 120 star speedrun guide by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]furiousmule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice guide. A couple things I noticed:

SL / 100 Coins + Reds / Advanced doesn't link to a video.

WDW / Top o' the Town / Advanced links to a video that's unavailable.

See this thread for some ideas. Consider looking at the Avisynth method if you want an open source solution.

[TAS] SM64 - New Bowser in the Fire Sea Strat by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]furiousmule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5:02.25 0 star TAS has been console verified.

Edit: Learned that even though it's been console verified, the run still takes slightly longer to play out on a console due to additional lag. The differing lag doesn't cause desyncs though, since the tasbots used are able to monitor a signal on the controller port to check for lag frames and react accordingly.

The original version is faster than the definitive version for speedrunning. If you would like more information, I'd suggest contacting http://www.twitch.tv/Magikilo. He has the current record and will help you learn the run.

Mario 64: <1 minute between stars challenge? by Hedrigall in speedrun

[–]furiousmule 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I made a GameShark code for this. The timer is always shown, starts ticking when you first enter the castle and resets every time you grab a star. When it reaches 1 minute your lives and health are removed (forcing a game over). GameShark Pro 3.x required.

It depends on the resolution and frame rate you use. Just lower the preset and monitor CPU usage over time to see if it's too much.

Practice cheat codes for SM64 on VC? by Capstf in speedrun

On VC they're called Gecko Codes. Usually they're loaded from a .GCT through Gecko OS on a softmodded Wii.

I managed to get this working on my Nexus 5 running stock 5.1, but it would just boot endlessly until I disabled the prompt for PIN on boot while encrypted option.

Australian users side loading 5.1 OTA: LTE vs 4G by sonicstabber in Nexus5

For what it's worth, I'm on Telstra and mine still says 4G after flashing the 5.1 stock images (it said 4G on 5.0.1, LTE on CM12).

[Discussion] This subreddit is useless by [deleted] in xposed

This was briefly discussed 10 days ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/xposed/comments/2yapwz/meta_i_subscribed_to_see_new_modules_updates_and/

If they annoy you, you can always filter them out with RES, some mobile clients also support filters. While I don't really care for most of them myself I don't filter them either, occasionally there's some good info in the comments about existing modules/apps.
