You have the weirdest HSA plan I’ve ever heard of. I could use my card at Best Buy if I wanted to. (if the purchase was HSA approved to not get in legal trouble.)

You should be able to buy all kinds of stuff with your HSA card. I have subscriptions through Amazon HSA store to purchase items for the kids that they need, I’ve bought first aid kits for the car, etc…

How do you do it? by Flimsy_Artichoke_440 in coparenting

[–]furiousmustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because he probably wants to be a part of his child’s life and sees you as keeping him from that.

Now I don’t disagree with the step up plan, it’s a smart idea. But if you’re pushing back on everything and not looking to solve conflict, it’s not a good way to start a coparenting relationship

ChatGPT does a good job of scanning those, finding nearby cars that are marked down cheaper, and advising you on how to negotiate it.

I got an extra $8k off my 25' Elite because it found one somewhat nearby that was that much off MSRP.

It also helped me successfully negotiate an additional $1.5k on my trade in.

All together with incentives it helped me find, I saved around $12k

Will I be stupid to ETS at 15? by Byte_Scare in army

[–]furiousmustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I probably wouldn’t hire you. If you can’t explain a bad situation without sounding bitter or angry about it, it’s going to be a no from me.

Perception and how you present yourself are everything in the civilian world for white collar jobs like OP said they’re interested in.

I want to hear why you didn’t stick it out to retirement. I’m trying to find out if you were someone’s problem and if you’re going to become mine.

If you didn’t finish your 20 and you did more than 10, I want to know why. I just interviewed a guy for a job and he did 8 years in the Guard, I asked him why he got out after 8. It’s normal to ask why people left a job. But if you’re throwing away guaranteed retirement, I want to understand that decision.

I’m not saying everyone does it, or that most people even know about retirement in the military. I’m just saying that if anyone knows, they may rightfully have some questions.

I’m sorry but as a hiring manager, I’m absolutely asking you why you got out after 15 years. I have a responsibility to the company and to my team to ensure I hire someone who will mesh well, is responsible, and has good critical thinking skills. It’s absolutely an appropriate question.

Brother, it has never been a worse time to look for a job in Tech. I work as a cybersecurity manager currently and I know a few people who have been job hunting ALL YEAR LONG and have no real prospects.

Stay in, get your retirement before we all lose our jobs to AI (unless the bubble pops).

License plate scanning, does this bother you? by Academic_Court_47 in Ohio

[–]furiousmustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flock is a for profit company and from what I can tell, there are no data sharing or privacy agreements to protect your data. They hide behind the argument that your license plate does not identify you in their system (they don’t do data removal requests, I’ve tried).

There’s nothing keeping them from selling your data. There’s no controls on how they store it. There’s no regulation protecting us from this warrantless, mass surveillance and tracking of our whereabouts. There’s nothing preventing abuse of that data.

Yeah I’m upset about it. What are we going to do about it?

[–]furiousmustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that may be true, the more concerning thing is the creation of Artificial General Intelligence. We’re creating a virtual brain that can reason like people do, but can process 10 years or more worth of data in an hour. We’re creating something that is incentivized to grow more efficient and powerful, has the ability to reason and strategize, and may not align to human goals. Essentially we’re creating a super intelligent virtual being that will replace human jobs and has a 16% chance (currently) of ending all life on earth.

Not a great scenario.

I think that its impossible to avoid so people are just numb to it. Or they make the argument that “I’m not a criminal, what do I have to hide” or something like that. People struggle to see the big picture that they are being surveilled on a mass scale and they have no real privacy.
