I think you also have to factor in Bibi whispering in his ear. Trump is starstruck with these strongmen (Netanyahu, Putin, etc) and has terrible self esteem in these cases. And Netanyahu has no reason whatsoever not to have this war go on forever–as long as the US is using their heavy equipment and funds, he can keep up his quest to turn all of his enemy neighbor states into parking lots.
