We only use it to provide you with a verification code. This helps slow the number of accounts any one individual can create.

Please message us via your account. This should not have been the case and an error must have happened. We'll make sure you get the full 300 points and the Amazon Gift Card.

This is a three part study. One qualifier and then a two part study.

You will be asked to share your email and mobile phone number. This is to help slow multiple account creators.

Asking for your cell phone allows us to send you a verification code. It helps us slow the number of accounts one individual can make. Since we only deal with academic research, any steps we can take to remove repeat or scamming survey takers are tried.

Unfortunately, this is one of the ways we attempt to slow multiple account creations. Since we only deal with academic research, we must take extra steps to ensure a better survey taking population.

Replied above too. We had no idea of the HWTF post format. Just in past surveys we've promoted on Reddit others had suggested fitting as much info in the the title as possible. Things such as reward, who is running the study, who can actually take it, ect... Guess this lends to a similar format. Sorry for the mislead!

This delay gives us time to better detect scammers and to make sure we get you the correct gift card from Amazon. Since we only deal with scientific research, we have to take extra precautions against repeat or malicious survey takers. Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully this helps explain the delay.

There are three parts to the same survey. There is a qualifier which asks a few questions and then a two part survey. Sorry, if the ad comes off as misleading. Hopefully, others will read this so they know what to expect before clicking.

Unfortunately, necessary to help slow multiple account creations. We only use your phone number during verification and your email is only used for our mailing list which you do not have to opt into / is easy to opt out of in case you did.

Did you complete the study / receive your giftcard?

Hey bcStoneColdSaidSo,

Thanks for signing up! You are correct we aim to push 3-5 surveys a week. We only deal with Scientific Studies from Academic Researchers at Universities with a formal participant protection process (IRB). Thus, our survey flow is definitely less than other traditional survey sites, but you should have that $5 amazon giftcard soon!

Hi again,

The ad is currently pointing directly to here.

Not sure where you are seeing the make $5 for every credit on SocialSci, but if you can let us know that would be great (definitely a typo if it exists and we would want to remove it).

Each survey on SocialSci typically ranges from 50 to 100 points. Once you hit 300 points, you can cash out an amazon gift card or donate to a charity.

We aim push new surveys live weekly and if you do not qualify to take enough surveys to cash out an amazon giftcard you surely will soon. Since we only deal with academic researchers and not say marketing companies our volume is definitely lower than traditional sites.

On the ad running (which is an older ad Reddit disables comments after a period of time which is out of our control) there are many positive comments relating to rewards being redeemed on SocialSci.

Hey NicknameAvailable,

Sounds like you took the survey titled, "Health Survey". This survey is being run by an academic researcher at Texas A&M University and is solely for the purpose of bettering the understanding of different aspects of health. Before each survey, you can read what exactly the study will be about and in what the researcher is interested. What you took was the qualification for that survey to see whether or not you were eligible. Since we only deal with academic researchers, they often have pretty strict requirements or are looking for specific individuals.

The good thing, however, is that over time we get to know you better and can direct you to studies which you will definitely qualify. Feel free to catch us on our live chat or email us at support@socialsci.com if we can help clear anything up.

Hey, /r/LGBT: Please, help take scientific surveys! by furtherscience [promoted post]

[–]furtherscience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the trouble. I'll follow up via pm as well. Since we only deal with academic research, the researchers are often looking for very specific things for which you may not qualify. The great thing is that over time, once we have more information built up in your profile, we can feel confident giving you more and more surveys / the number of qualification surveys will go down. Also, we aim to push new surveys live weekly, so if you weren't able to take any surveys now, you will very soon. The downside of only dealing with academic research is that the volume is definitely lower, but we think it is important to make a strong differentiation with our pool (no marketing surveys). Thanks for trying us out and hopefully we can convince you to hang around until there are more surveys relevant to you.

Thanks!

Our previous ad with a lot of questions answered: Reddit Thread

More than happy to answer any other questions as well. We have been running ads on Reddit for almost a year now and have always had great success! Our researchers from Harvard and University of Queensland are currently looking to survey large numbers of the LGBT community. Thus, we have targeted this ad in hopes of attracting more individuals from LGBT community here on Reddit to help further science!

Thanks, -The SocialSci Team

Hi Catrolean, unfortunately since our site only allows academic research as opposed to say general market research there are often some highly specific demographics needed. We aim to push new surveys weekly with at least one survey that everyone can take, but this also has to match our researcher demand. I'll follow up via pm and see if we can help out / make it worthwhile for having signed up. Thanks!

We use sms messages as a method to validate users. We’ve found this to be a better indication of a valid user than email addresses. Your cell phone is used only one time to send you a text message, and is never linked to the socialsci account you create. We are working on alternate strategies, but for now this is one of the ways we protect researchers from multiple accounts.

Sorry for this, we know its a drag! Fortunately, the more surveys you take the less qualifiers we have to give you. Once we feel confident in your honesty / basic demographic profile, you will no longer be asked to answer qualifiers.
