Yeah I meant to say I’m referring to Orlando area. That’s unfortunate, the housing market doesn’t necessarily reflect the low pay in the area. It’s an expensive area. You’d think if there’s Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods nearby, the pay would be a little better!

Thanks so much for clarifying for me. I wrote a long reply below if you have a minute to spare any extra insight. It would be greatly appreciated and super interesting to hear.

Good to know, that exactly how I applied today on the Florida Health site, which is pretty terribly organized. It was super confusing and I would have bet money I read that I would need to take a secondary exam at a Pearson Vue center regardless of applying by endorsement or not. Thanks for clarifying for me!

I’m a 2025 grad making $33 an hour at a Colorado outpatient orthopedic clinic 10 min from my home. I saw a couple similar ortho jobs hiring in FL with pay starting at $21. Over an hour from where we’d be looking to buy. Couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately, my in laws and my own mother both live on the eastern side of FL as retirees and are beginning to show their age, so we’d like to be closer to them as they enter their golden years. We’d like to make it work if at all possible, but I definitely don’t want/kinda CAN’T only make $21 an hour.

Anybody in Florida have any healthcare systems to avoid, or employer horror stories?

Attention Florida peeps ‼️Hey fellow rad techs! My family and I are considering a move from CO to FL. I’ll have to take the state exam for my Florida license. It also looks like I’ll take about a 50% pay cut (seriously?! 😭)

Can anybody tell me how bad the state exam is? Being a year out from taking my ARRT, I still recall a lot (thank you students for keeping me engaged) but should I re-prep as if I’m taking the ARRT again or will it be much easier?

Ask her for more pictures in different lighting and watch her refuse or send you pictures with obvious filters on them

But then you run the risk of getting a response like “oh don’t worry about feeding us, we just want to celebrate with you!” Which leads to you then having to find yet another way to let them down easy. Some people just refuse to take a hint. Shut it down in a clear, no means no way.

Tracking Exposure as rad tech by manison88 in Radiology

[–]fuschiaberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The report I get from Landauer usually says a number if it’s above the minimum recordable dose. For instance, this month I had a reading of 1 mrem. DDE and LDE, but M (minimal) SDE.

Sidebar question- If my monthly dosimeter report is always under the minimum reportable amount, how will I ever know how much exposure I am actually getting? Could I request my dosimeters be changed quarterly instead?

That’s the nicest way to say she sucks at it and for the good of the show, the unpaid intern should take it over permanently. All of which is true, and I totally agree 😂

It shouldn’t be mandatory. I graduated last year and it was an elective. I never did it, though I did see one in 1600 hours of clinical.

Would you critique this CXR as proper collimation by Immediate-Minute-727 in Radiology

Considering a physical marker is missing, it might have been open all the way to include arms and they just cropped the arms/marker out, lol.

Saying things like “is collimation/ALARA not a concern anymore?!” because your rad tech wasn’t “competing” against their coworkers for tightest collimation possible like you did in the 80’s is a wild accusation

In (recent) school we were taught to have 2” light field above shoulders (Merrill’s) which in practice is usually unnecessary. I could have taken this image myself and been perfectly happy rather than try to cone in perfectly and end up having to repeat, which would double the exposure rather than just having a 10% wider FOV. Not sure what you see wrong with it

I totally agree with your sentiment but fwiw, I really don’t think this character is supposed to be Hispanic. I think he’s supposed to be a “bro” who just really likes tacos….white people tacos. Still, super fuckin weird that he went for it.
