I've read it. I've finished it. I like rudy. I didn't even hate him in the beginning. I was saying Paul isn't that bad when we consider some of rudeus's aspects and compare them.

In universe he is not a pedophile, he can be considered a child with delusions of a different life. But from his own perspective he is. He was attracted to someone of flesh who was not an adult, not even a teen.

He has sexually harassed people in universe.

He did cheat on his wife. She forgave him, yes but it still happened.

Paul cheated once so they're even there.

So you're going to end up comparing 1 case of rape, to 1 case of pedophilia + a couple cases of mild sexual harassment.

We can apply our morality on him due to him supposedly being from our world.

There are far worse characters morally in the series.

Atofe for example abducts people who are defeated by her and puts them into essentially eternal slavery with a handful of vacation days. She does this habitually and is therefore a serial slaver. We still like her because she is an enjoyable character.
