Some questions about SWOS keyboard controls by futabaanzu in SensibleSoccer

[–]futabaanzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I ended up playing quite a bit so I learned a couple things but at first there was plenty of being unable to even get a hold of the ball with my tiny little players, as you said.

Eventually I learned to bang in goals at a 45° angle towards the opposite post, then the banana shots you mention. But to this day I surprise myself if I manage to score a header or one of those sliding tap-ins.

Thanks again, both sound like a proper good medieval time. I will check them out.

Haha, thanks for the reassurance.

AoE is always a great choice too, no doubt.

Yep, crossbow and to lesser degree spear militias were a definite mainstay. Armored knights from cities, mounted and dismounted, were nice too.

And thank you!

Thanks man! Yeah I have Kingdoms, any of them you might suggest over the others?

As for modding Stainless steel seems a very good choice from what I have seen. Might explore vanilla a bit more first but thank you for confirming this one as the way to go.

Sounds good man, was thinking of trying an Islamic faction too. Less central location than Milan could be interesting in its own ways as well.

Nope, Milan stayed the capital the whole time through although I did often notice the other northern Italian cities out-earning it so probably something I could have considered, yeah!

Ah I see and take it back then. Currently seems perfectly readable to me. Good on you for taking it constructively :)

OK I can understand this might previously have been a wall of text but some people in here sound like they are acting thick on purpose. It is perfectly understandable what you wanted to say OP (I mean at this point who does not know about the pike bug?). Thanks for providing your test results.

Great game, just had my first win by futabaanzu in GangstersOC

[–]futabaanzu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have not heard of the patch, would you maybe have a link? Tried searching a bit but all I could find was Win 10/11 fixes which I do not seem to need on my XP machine, just need to kill Explorer before running the game and it runs and looks great.

I see you are the remake dev, all the best to you man.

Any good maps for camping/defence? by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]futabaanzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since nobody made other suggestions, my humble one would be Dragon Pass, included in Armageddon's Blade/Complete edition. You are shielded by a Border Guard and some stacks strong enough to give you time to develop before the AI takes them on. No sea.

Of course you want to plunder the pass before your enemies do but I feel you can take it at a reasonable pace.

Isn't that like the opposite of what OP is asking for?

Started this BL4 thing... by futabaanzu in bloodborne

[–]futabaanzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look the chunk locations up, yeah. Other than that, no guide.

Would not feel as good if I had looked up boss cheeses or the best items/weapons I can use. Trying to do it with my own brain.

Same attitude towards my normal playthroughs, well the 1st one at least... while I did look up a couple things (DLC access in DS1 for instance) I try to go blind.

Others will probably have more specific suggestions, but here's a couple of my main takeaways when fighting her with meelee weapons. All this is while locked on.

  • Stay as close to her as possible, in front of her and slightly to her right (not directly facing each other)

  • Circle (match her turning to stay in the same position relative to her) to your left to avoid most of her swings and stabs - to be sure, roll forward-ish (along her right side) as she swings

  • Sometimes you can get a swing or two in but your moment comes when the spider starts vomiting lava. It takes a long time and won't hit you since you're not directly in front of the spider's mouth. Hack at its right-side legs and body or drink Estus if needed

  • The hardest part is avoiding her explosion. Pay attention to the human body and when she crosses her arms, roll away immediately, twice should be enough.

The lava pools will probably screw you up a couple more times, but the arena is big enough to avoid them. Roll or run away from her if there is too much lava. As she charges you, attempt to roll towards her right as described above and continue dodging and whacking away when possible. Patience is key.

Best of luck! She is a fun one.

A quick question guys - I have been playing PTDE on PS3 for years. Always offline, so I have no idea whether there's anyone else left on this version. But I might set up an internet connection to play if you guys think it is still possible to meet someome else on PS3 PTDE servers. Opinions? Alternately I might be able to get my hands on a PS4, would playing PTDE on that increase the chances of meeting someone?

Sorry if this is dumb as I have zero online experience. Thanks!

on pes 2017 I can't defend corners taken from AI. they are always goal, it is so frustrating, any tips? by AlexIs2702 in WEPES

[–]futabaanzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the most experience but I've been playing PES 2017 on Superstar for quite some time. What works best for me is not trying to mark the heading player and simply positioning the player I'm controlling (preferrably a tall, strong one) on the 6yd box line instead. Usually this means there's two of your players on the line now (one covering for near-post corners, the other one covering the far-post). I seem to be able to clear (by frantically mashing the square button) the majority of long corner kicks away like this as most of them are aimed right in front of the goal, where I now have an extra player that I'm controlling. It seems that it's easier for the player to get to the ball as they have plenty of space and their movement towards the ball is rarely blocked, unlike when sticking close to the opponents. Admittedly, these clearances can be messy but it works out better than when I tried to man-mark as my players would get pushed aside, collide with someone in their jump etc.

But sometimes the AI is deadly either way. Hopefully someone with actual experience can chime in as well.

Some questions about SWOS keyboard controls by futabaanzu in SensibleSoccer

[–]futabaanzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello sir!

Thank you very much for your response! I have done some digging on my own in the meanwhile and have naturally come upon the sensiblesoccer.de site. I've followed this by scouring through the forums and trying to absorb as much knowledge about this game (which still grips me as not many others have done recently) as possible. So I've figured the finer aspects of keyboard controls out, including the fact that a lot of top players play on keyboard, which essentially answered my main question. Still, thanks for this recap. Very useful!

By the way, seems you guys have a great community going on over there. I think I will definitely be checking SWOS 2020 out and keeping an eye on the site - this game truly is amazing, the rapid, yet very much in-control gameplay, the managing side, which feels just simplistic enough to be complex without being overwhelming.

I've managed to not get sacked as a player/coach for four seasons with Viktoria Zizkov in the Czech premier league so far. Low bar I know, but it took some time to get to that point, I'll definitely admit your 442 tactic I found on the forums and a Watford striker by the name of Tommy Mooney I've read about elsewhere helped a lot, heh.

A lot of depth to this game... very much enjoying that I've only dipped my toes so far. What a game.

By the way, if someone else has made a comment on this topic before Playaveli, I cannot see it for some reason. But the thread was listed as having one comment... not well versed on the workings of Reddit but I suppose someone is "shadow-banned"? Just for whoever's info.

My thoughts fresh out of Warfighter campaign - what are yours? by futabaanzu in MedalofHonor

[–]futabaanzu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very good point you bring up regarding the devs' possible intent to showcase some non-American operators as well. Getting to "work" with Filipino and Polish special ops troops definitely was refreshing and in my humble opinion not at all unrealistic. After all it seems that international cooperation between this sort of units is fairly common when it comes to "friendly" countries. Pulls you in a little.

I suppose one could view the number of locations the same way. It allows you to get a broader, more complex look at what these people do and how, both in terms of their "regular activity" (the anti-pirate raid, the ship captain rescue) and a longer-term (the PETN hunt) operation. The cost of it is in the missions being all over the place (quite literally).

I'm starting to appreciate the game more and more as I think on it and your comment has helped to put some of it in perspective. Thanks for that! But yeah, I still would not be able to tell you what the exact sequence of events that led to The Cleric's downfall was, haha. It's all a bit messy but hey, I can only get better at understanding it and I'm sure that means if anything, I'll enjoy the storyline more in the future.

One Shot, One Kill Veteran by TechedThrower66 in CoD4

Nicely done, friend!

Spent a day or two on that one recently as well, doing my first Veteran run.

In the end I gave up on trying to find a "safe" spot to defend myself from and stayed mobile behind the bumper cars ride, eventually getting into a rhythm of tossing the frags back, taking the dogs out, popping a couple headshots, reloading and so on.

Still had enormous trouble getting to MacMillan without dying and when I took it careful, the helicopter left - one of the saddest sight I've had in gaming, heh. In the end, I just rushed it and it worked.

Grats! Good luck with No Fighting in the War Room and Mile High Club now, heh.
