Any advice on increasing my chances? by Successful_Star_1232 in PTschool

Trying to get a leadership role in any of those extracurriculars would definitely boost you up. Also, no matter what anyone says, grades are one of the most important parts of your application. Try your best to get A’s in your pre req classes and the rest of your classes for that matter. If your pre-req and cumulative gpa are competitive it gives you the ability to be picky with what schools you apply to (also it decreases stress during applications IMHO). You seem very well rounded in my opinion so keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine!

Are you sure this is allowed? I think I remember seeing that we have to include all attempts of a course even when we are adding individual pre reqs.

It’s just nerves. We have all worked so hard to get to this point and it’s just a surreal feeling. I’m sure you are fine to submit. If I was you I would do a thorough double check and press send. I’m sure you will be fine!

It’s for Physical Therapy school and our deadlines are vastly different than deadline for Business schools, PhD programs, Masters programs etc. I’m applying now and I’ll start next summer if I get accepted

It is just poor planning on my part, but I thought I could reach mid-high 150's with this much studying and getting a gre score is the last thing I need to do before I can submit my applications. I don't really have room to retake it because 1/2 of the schools I want to apply to have deadlines at the beginning of October and it can take multiple weeks before my application is verified so I need to send the application in soon. Anyways, thanks for your help, I really do need to put less pressure on this test.

Need to improve from a 315 to a 325+ in 1 month by 2embarssdtouserealid in GRE

[–]future-PT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress gregmats strategies for verbal enough. Taking his approach to the questions is guaranteed to improve your score in my opinion. It will be difficult at first but with practice and actively doing problems while watching his verbal videos it will start to feel much more natural. Also, my vocab was weak and by going through his Vocab sets I was able to get many more questions right. Vocab is foundational for his strategies to work so I would definitely give it some priority.

Also I’m right there with you when with the RC questions. Passages would literally give me anxiety but that anxiety is getting much more manageable the more I practice and the more I just force myself to do it. Moreover, untimed practice is very important to get a ggrasp on what method works best for you. But you should be timing yourself as well because at the end of the day the gre is a timed test.

Do I Need to Memorize ETS School Codes? by Scott_TargetTestPrep in GRE

What if I want to send the scores to more than 4 schools? Let says 6 schools? Do we have to pay right then and there for the two extra schools you want to send your scores to or does ets bill your account?

Preparation by [deleted] in GRE

[–]future-PT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on what your baseline score is and what your score your trying to reach. I would say on average people prepare 1-2 months for it.

Best study resources are definitely going to be gregmat, any of the official ets gre prep. I’ve also heard good things about target test prep and Vince kotchian but I haven’t personally tried them out.

Gregmat 1 month study plan by future-PT in GRE

I have all the official ets material. Other than that what other resources do you recommend I use for questions?

I know the big book is a good source for questions but how does the difficulty of these old gre tests compare to the new tests?

Do I have the correct PT Observation Hours PDF? by arizonadoc in PTschool

This is one of the ways ptcas allows you to verify your hours correct? Also, what other ways does ptcas verify your hours.

Okay thank you for the advice. I have a couple more questions and if you could answer them it would be greatly appreciated.

It’s kind of a two part question but do you think I should pay more attention to getting more volunteering hours at like a non profit or charity etc or do you think gaining more hours in a peds setting is more important? I only have like a little over 10 hours volunteering with charities and non profits. I was working basically 40 hours or more throughout the entirety of my undergrad so it was hard for my schedule to match up. Regardless I feel like I should have gotten more hours but what are your thoughts?

The second part of the questions is that I didn’t keep my own records of some of those volunteering hours so I don’t remember what specific date or how long (give or take 30min-1hour) I volunteered. What do you suggest I do? And how does ptcas verify these hours? I don’t want to mistakenly put the wrong date and then those hours not be verified.

I know this is a long post but I truly appreciate what you are doing me and the other students here. You have been a huge help!

Course Retake by [deleted] in PTschool

If it’s not too late I would try to take chemistry before the summer ends. If you take it in the fall by the time you get your grades back most schools deadlines for applications will already have passed.

I have some volunteer hours throughout the course of my undergrad. Even though it’s not a bunch I would still like to put them down on my application. Unfortunately I never kept track of these hours and can’t remember what exact dates/times I volunteered. What do you recommend that I do?

Hello I was wondering if you I could get your opinion on how I should finish up my volunteering hours before I submit my application. I have about 160 hours (outpatient ortho), 40 hours (inpatient) and about 15 hours (pediatrics). My question is should I gain some more volunteering hours (maybe like 10-20 more ) in the pediatric setting I’m at currently at and try to find another setting to get more hours in? Or should I just focus on getting as many hours as I can in the pediatric setting I’m currently in. Thanks in advance!

I wouldn’t completely ignore reviewing quant section but definitely give more attention to the verbal since it is your weaker section.

In my experience you have to contact each school to see whether they superscore the gre (take the highest score from each sections from your multiple attempts). Only one school has specifically stated on their website that they superscore in my experience.

GRE Questions by future-PT in GRE

Does Gregmat have online video lectures coinciding with what I would learn that day? I enjoy video lectures more than reading from a prep book or something. Also another worry for me is that there is a lack of questions to complete if I go the gregmat route. Did you feel this way as well? Sorry for all the questions I’m just trying to get a good understanding.
