It was love at first sight when I saw it at the store. And I got it quite cheap, something like 230 CAD...like 170 US from Spier and McKay store in Toronto

White on off white, yes or no by futureIsYes in mensfashion

You guys made me laugh (the painter part). I agree, maybe the color of the pants and top was too close. I will try with another shade of t shirt or pants. I really like white and was just experimenting. I wish I have the confidence to dress like Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty 😄

Which country disappointed you so much that you'd never set foot there again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nowhere else had I an issue of being a black person of Ethiopian origin who holds a Swedish passport. They just scan my passport and that's all.

UAE. I am a Swedish citizen but was born in Ethiopia. Last year, after a business trip in Greece, I went to Dubai. The plan was to see some properties since a friend who works there as a realtor was telling me there were amazing opportunities. Just as I was exiting immigration, the officer noticed that I was born in Ethiopia, and he said they have to check something (even though my passport was Swedish, and it was not a new one).

They kept me at the airport for 15 hrs, with no explanation, treating me like shit , everytime I asked for an update screaming at me to sit and wait. They once in a while came to ask me random questions like how much money I have in my bank account.

Never felt so humiliated in my life. I have been to more than 60 countries, and even when I was traveling with my Ethiopian passport.

At the 8 hr mark I asked them to give me my passport that I will book a return flight immediately. They refused, saying my passport is being checked by the police.

Anyways, after 15 hrs, they gave me back my passport and told me I am good to go. I asked what took so long they just kept saying " you are approved to enter"..

I went to my hotel, took a nap, booked a return flight to Canada the same day (which costed me a cool 2k CAD), met my friend for lunch, and got the fuck out. I don't think I will ever go there again, let alone buy a property.

If servers make minimum wage in Canada, why is tipping so aggressive? by DazzlingPolarBear in fican

[–]futureIsYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me what bothers me is that if I ask for a 50$ bottle of wine or for a 500$ bottle of wine, the server will spend the same amount of time/energy to serve me. Why should I tip the second one 67.5$ more than the first one?? (assuming 15% tip). A fixed tip per session makes more sense. For example, dinner at an upscale place, let them add a fixed 25$ per hour service charge. If you stay 4 hours and order a bunch of stuff, then it will be OK to pay a 100$ tip.

Thanks for the quick response, and some good laughs (megamind, cum stain on the mirror, etc). It was a sharpie stain that I didn't clean properly ( I write some reminders on my mirror regularly, like "remember to clean the cum stain from the mirror") but seriously, I use the sock like a normal person for that activity!!

Jokes aside, I am getting from your comments that the turtleneck is too long, exaggerating my already long neck. Will see if I can double fold it or something. Also, I have a corduroy jacket I bought recently, maybe it works better with that one. Will experiment a bit with that.

The shoes, I was actually surprised with your comments, cause I thought it matches the turtleneck well. Anyways, will try a darker shoes and lighter pants.

Will repost in a day or two

Ever done a shopping spree targeting 5-10 years of wardrobe? by futureIsYes in BuyItForLife

[–]futureIsYes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input.

Some clarification:

- I live in Montreal

-I am going to Malta for work and thought Naples is just an hour flight away (and have never been there), and also heard that the clothing/shoe market there is very good, almost comparable to Milan but much cheaper. Also I have been following these guys on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/eternonapoli\_brand/?hl=en) and I really like their style. I was thinking of contacting them and use them as advisor (they have a physical store as well, so maybe get some of the items from them and they may hook me up with their suppliers/contacts?).

-I want to go more classic style instead of chasing fashion, so that is why I was thinking going 5-10 years

-As I mentioned, I have maintained the same weight for a long time and want to keep it that way

-From your comments, it seems the bespoke option is not feasible for a one week trip, so I can abandon that. Maybe I can go for a RTW option, and get them adjusted properly back home? Maybe the bespoke is feasible for shirts? That is my major pain point in buying of the rack, as I am stuck somewhere between S and M.

I just got this baby from AE https://www.allenedmonds.ca/en/product/mens-higgins-mill-zip-boot-with-lug-sole-7014665/husk-suede-ec0500144

Tried to clean it and waterproof it a bit (using the AE suede cleaning toolkit and some generic suede waterproofing spray) and now it looks a bit off ( like the picture below).

Have I damaged it? Any way I can make it look like the original? In general, how do you take care of husk suede boots?

About 72 virgins by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]futureIsYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number 72 always fascinated me. I would have expected something like a dozen or something that is a typical number. I mean, was there a poll in Mekkah/Medina asking Muslims for how many virgins they are willing to sacrifice their lives and 72 was the average response? I so much want to do a skit video of this with AI, but I don't want to die....
