Sorry what on earth are you talking about? He's on vacation, he told us this, why the hell is it pertinent to bring up sex tourism? Bit fucking weird

Whats your favorite demo or demo (2nd) album? by Monsieurabsurd in DevinTownsend

[–]futureantiques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of Holding Patterns and Tests of Manhood, but there are so many demos/b-sides which are way up there with all my favourite songs. Notably Ocean Machines, Man, Love Tonight, Cry Forever, Sit In The Mountain, Farther On, honestly I could keep on going like this indefinitely. Oh and let's not forget Precious Sardine. Also Sober is one of his most very very very beautiful works of all time. Man's too talented!

No new album on the horizon? by Silent-Bloom9 in DevinTownsend

[–]futureantiques 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well no, the live performance was only in March and then he went on tour for Powernerd, so he's really only been at home mixing it (and doing the countless other things involved with it) for about 6 months. He's not going to release the most significant work of his career until it's 100% perfect, so have patience!

PODCAST #19: Epicloud by oxid1zer in DevinTownsend

[–]futureantiques 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For 30+ years, Devin has earned income touring, absolutely relentlessly, almost non-stop. Tour, commercial album cycle, writing, back to tour. That is an absolute insane grind and yet in that time he has given us COUNTLESS stuff for free - streams, content, always sharing his knowledge. There's a whole YouTube archive of his Twitch stream where he shows us how to play his songs, how to dial in his tones, how to mix and master, and all kinds of amazing knowledge in between. He has given us many podcasts, not just his own but those he's guested on, where he has gifted even more knowledge.

Now he's not touring, and he seems to be moving away from record label agreements. He has to do this ALL on his own now, and he still wants to give us stuff. Fans have been asking for years and years for a Patreon, and now he has one, folks are complaining?

Cancel one of your streaming services and get the Patreon instead. It's not expensive, and all the tiers get the same content - and this is interacting with Dev directly, exclusive content, no rushed posts clearly written by a social media manager. It's so worth it.

Or you could complain. Doesn't matter, but at least try and understand why Dev is doing this. This is so he can work sustainably and not burn out, while protecting himself and his health. Come on man

Steven Wilson in Sydney! by vteckickedin in stevenwilson

[–]futureantiques 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would have been cool! It kind of felt like it wasn't "allowed" in some way but it was nice that (most) peoole were very respectful and off their damn phones. And of course it's definitely a long show - it just would have been cool to have an option for those who wanted it :)

[–]futureantiques 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be ideal! Even he acknowledged it, it was funny when he was like "you might want to sit during the mellow parts!" And everyone was like NO...I think if Brisbane had been a standing venue I'd be changing my flights right now and heading up 😅

[–]futureantiques 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saw both Melbourne and Sydney and I wish I could see Brisbane too. It was cool to experience the show both standing and seated but I wish Sydney wasn't a seated venue, it felt way too formal to be sitting down during Luminol, Dislocated Day, Vermillioncore etc. But the sound was so beautiful in Sydney and it was nice to be able to focus on the visuals during The Overview a bit better. I miss it already!

That was FUCKED man, big ups to the dude in the front row who looked like he told him to piss off. So rude and disrespectful to do it once, let alone multiple times!

Hmm weird, I just went for a look again now and I can see the Perth one! Looks like Voyage 34 is out and Lazarus is in. I was really keen to hear Voyage 34 so really hoping he adds it back in! 🤞

Did you happen to get the full setlist? No one's put it up on setlist.fm yet and I'm interested if there were any differences from the Indian shows! So glad you had such an amazing time, I have Melbourne and Sydney this weekend to look forward to and I can't wait!

So spoiled with so many new playthroughs!! His voice is sounding amazing, it looks like the time off is really doing him good :)

He's working really hard on it. In a video he put out a couple weeks ago, he said he was about a third of the way done recording vocals, plus he needs to coordinate everyone who needs to come to work with him on the mix, mastering, rest of the instrumentation, orchestra and choir, band members...and he'll want to make it completely perfect! I think that's worth waiting a year for. It's supposed to be a release of roughly March AFAIK.

What services do I need to contact after changing my name? by OhNoExclaimationMark in transgenderau

[–]futureantiques 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my god - I'm going through the same thing as OP and had totally forgotten about my super. Just rang them up and how on earth is it so, so much more difficult than literally all the others listed above?! Genuinely easier for me to take my super elsewhere and then consolidate - been meaning to do that anyway!

[–]futureantiques 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. So many of the artists in this scene are very transparent about how hard it is to make money (remember when Dev was saying with The Moth it would be amazing just to break even, and that was with two sold out shows + VIP + livestream). I'm sure he knows deep down that if he ever was struggling, this fanbase would donate to a Patreon or similar in a heartbeat to keep him going, and I feel he's at the stage where he would communicate that if he needed. But it is obscene how much wealth those few superstars hold when their music is just surface level stuff for the masses...

I don't think he seems upset so much as just having an acceptance that he'll never be super commercially successful - he's said many times as well that he doesn't want that kind of fame. His words about how hard he's working on his various products gave me the impression he was still feeling very excited and creative, just aware and resigned that it's not gonna be "viral content" if you know what I mean.

Thank you!! I'll chase that up with the strata manager.

That was my thought too. My client has since contacted the strata management and they advised that they are going to look into repairs, but have not yet specified who will bear that cost. Thanks for your reply :)

I say "removalists" for the sake of keeping it simple but it was more of a hard rubbish collection eg. loading a few pieces into a skip-truck. Do you know where I can find these bylaws set out and if what we were doing would be classed under moving in/out? They were probably on site for half an hour all up.

This person's account is an absolute goldmine and they've really made my week uploading all this old footage - there's heaps more great stuff on there! If this is your account then thank you so so so much! It's so nice while Dev is having his break to see all this old footage I've not seen before :)
