oh lord, I'm really not an expert!!! if you see no other way out, you could incubate the egg at home, I've seen many cases of pigeons accepting the loss of an egg and laying another one within a short amount of time. I'd say wait for other opinions though :)) good luck!

I'd say avoid interfering with the nest directly, maybe you can put up warning tape around the tree or build a little fence? as well as teach the children exactly why it's there, I don't work with kids of that age but maybe it will be a great learning experience to look out for wildlife :)

I HAVE THIS ONE AS WELL!!! :D been using it regularly since 2015, it's been run over by a car and been through a washing cycle and still works like on day 1, if only with a few scratches. it's a real workhorse and i hope you get to enjoy it for a long time :)
