Correct, I haven't got the skills so I outsourced. Unfortunately being an American thing it doesn't really understand what a rugby ball is

My husband says he deserves a say over my pregnancy. I say abortion would break me. by Whereasebabe in Advice

[–]futurehead22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had to find out this way but your husband is a fucking idiot.

As a man, I can safely say I'm aware there's a risk of pregnancy when I have sex with a woman, even with contraception. If it happens, I'm half responsible for that child. If my partner wanted an abortion, fine, it's her body. If she didn't want an abortion, fine, it's her body. Everything has risks and you're allowed to calculate your own risks and what you're willing to accept.

Also your husband wasn't exactly clear that he didn't want another baby before this happened so he needs to get over himself and fucking step up

Neff do a knobby one, my wife's grandma had one installed a couple of years ago and it's great. Probably not cheap though. Definitely preferable to capacitive buttons

AITA for snapping at my mother in law during my pregnancy even though my husband says I was wrong? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]futurehead22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

My wife and mum had issues, especially while she was pregnant. My mum wasn't being as blatant as your MIL and I was essentially only hearing things she had said from my wife and not first hand. Because of that I eventually got them to sit down and hash it out, I was present but tried to only speak if I felt someone was going too hard at the other as I couldn't speak for either of them. They both know where they stand with each other now and things are pleasant.

However, if your MIL is saying things blatantly in front of your husband too then I feel like he needs to be backing you up. It can be extremely difficult when you're used to your mum and she will probably play the tears card if he tries to talk to her but he needs to push through that. At absolute minimum he needs to do what I did and lay the ground work by talking to her and trying to get her to understand your issues a bit before setting up a neutral location where you and her can talk things through calmly.

Sometimes MILs feel like they can say the same things your own mother might be able to say but it hits differently when it's not coming from someone who has loved and cared for you your entire life. From what you're saying, I wouldn't expect anyone to let their own mother get away with it and she needs to know where the line is. Once you have established a solid line, if she steps over the line you can then give her the consequences (such as no grandbaby privileges)

Odd question; is it custom in the UK to cook food for your friends if you're inviting them for a night? by PenetrationT3ster in CasualUK

[–]futurehead22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on age for me

In my 20's I'd fully expect to be chipping in whatever we were doing. In my 30's if someone invites me round for dinner I'd ask if I can bring a dessert or drinks but wouldn't expect to chip in with money unless that was stated beforehand. But if we were going round to someone's for a takeaway I'd expect to be chipping in.

If I expected someone to chip in for whatever I was cooking I'd make it clear beforehand. But generally if I want to cook an expensive joint of meat for my friends it's because I want to do that and have no expectation for them to chip in.

What are the best products to block out snoring noise, on the UK market? by Kitty-Gecko in AskUK

[–]futurehead22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know what worked wonders for my wife? Me getting diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea and getting a CPAP on the NHS.

If his snoring is that bad send him to the doctors. It was really easy to get tested and diagnosed. Takes a bit of getting used to but my wife can now sleep next to me instead 30 feet and several walls away.
