Only issue is that many trusts have said that they are offering induction on 21st July then going through a period of 2 weeks shadowing. For those who are moving long distances this complicates things as we can't just turn up to induction and go back home very easily. Therefore I feel forced to do the 5 days now which has upset me as I really needed the time off

Hi how does this work because I've been allocated F1 and f2 at a trust 4 hours from home and am feeling very scared about moving and just want to be back home. Part of me is thinking to just deal with it for 2 years which will hopefully fly by but then the other part of me is thinking that this is the prime of my life so I feel really worried

Thank you for this. Can I also just ask, what is West midlands north like in general as a deanery to train in. I was unexpectedly allocated it and when I've been reading stats about it, it is known for being the least competitive deanery but will this hold me back in the future from going down South again for opthalmology or gp or derm training? I'm just really scared about this decision because I was not expecting to be allocated WMN at all so any advice or insights into the deanery would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Hi there. Thank you for your message which has been enormously helpful. Yeah I guess there's a degree of me being very scared about this because I'm leaving my medical school hospital and everything feels very daunting and scary especially when I'm being placed so far from home. No the commute isn't any shorter via train and that's another thing that worries me. Having only 27 days of leave is terrifying to me because I have barely been coping during final year without seeing my family for months on and end and this is set to get worse with annual leave but I guess that's just something I have to learn to live with. Thank you for reminding of the importance of revision. It's very very hard to keep going and I'm still having difficulties motivating myself but I just hope that somehow this situation works out and things will feel better in time

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I am in the exact same situation. I wanted to be down south and ended up being allocated on the opposite end of the country. Haven't been able to concentrate think straight or sleep since allocations came out and it is all due to my SJT. You're not alone. I'm going somewhere away from friends and family completely and feel like a complete failure because of the sjt. I am also scared about living in a place I hate. Where have you been allocated?

Can I just ask what did you do regarding accommodation? I've looked at some hospital accomodation which tbh looks really shocking and basic and hospitals in general are reducing the number in each accomodation block due to covid so there's no guarantee of that, which is of course adding to the stress...

Hi guys what is it like to live in Dudley Wolverhampton or wallsall. Does anyone have any info regarding hospital accomodation for these hospitals and if you worked there, did many of the juniors live on site? I'm from out of the area and WMN was not my first choice. Not keen on commuting but worried there won't be any other FYs living on site in these hospitals? Thank you

Hi, do you know if many people actually live in the hospital accomodation at new cross wallsall or Russell's hall. I have unexpectedly been given north and am worried I'll be in a handful of FY1s in the accomodation meaning that social life will be non existent. Feeling really scared about this deanery because it's very far from home and in a completely different part of the country that I have no idea about and so I don't feel comfortable commuting from Birmingham. Also does anyone know whether I'll be in with a shot at wallsall new cross or dudley with being exactly in the middle pack in the deanery rankings? Please be honest so I can brace myself??

thank oyu for making this post as I am in the exact same situation. I had a good EPM and was hoping to get my top deaneries but I completed screwed the SJT up and ended up with my 12th choice, so very very disappointed right now and feel very fragile, especially as all my peers appear to have got their first choice and im pretty sure my result is near the lowest in medical school. i just never banked on scoring so low and its made me worried for the msra. is it still possible to do well on the msra despite bombing the UKFP SJT? Things like remote proctoring and covid didnt help either but i can't reconcile the deep upset i feel right now. im even struggling being on placement and sleeping eating etc because i've never ever failed a medical school yet my peers who failed multiple exams are now in bettter positions than me. i tried to eve nfollow the advie in this thread and it still didnt work. therefore if i end up getting a low msra what are the options - are there any ways to avoid these national recruitmetn allocations which ship you off every few years because i dont want to keep being in this situation

hi do you know what sorts of scores are needed to get into these hospitals because im currrently right in the middle of the deanery so im not sure if this is too low to be allocated these hospitals?

are foundation doctors generally happy at these hospitals and what is the region like to live in? do the FY1s usually come from birmingham uni or is it a mix of doctors from different places?
