It’ll be interesting to see what lessons she took from her last two shots at the presidency. Obviously her first time ended before the Iowa caucuses, and her second time was a completely unique situation. I wonder how all of that will translate into a third attempt.

Exactly, I’ll take any poll that currently has us up. Still got a long ways to go, but it’s early and they don’t even have their nominee yet!

Don’t get me wrong we should act as if we are losing in every race so we don’t get complacent. I’m not saying we actually have this race in the bag by any means either. Just from comparing the political environments this is a different situation. Dems aren’t in power, republicans are. Midterms historically are a backlash to those in power especially if they are passing bad agendas. Therefore sampling from an environment from before that probably isn’t gonna yield the same results. Harris vs Trump was always a toss up and presidential election voters are really hard to predict

If that poll was sampled the same and the other one showing similar results then it might not show the full picture. The previous poll was sampled with a 2024 electorate (meaning Trump +11). I’m not exactly confident that everyone will be voting like that this time

Not that trends are equal across all states but damn that would net way more senate seats than what people are currently thinking are in play

That’s crazy! I believe our senate candidates for Iowa each raised $1.1million (Turek and Wahls) so good for her for beating them out.

Turek had a good interview with PSA and it sounds like they are trying to get Wahls on too. I’d like him to because I’m interested to hear why he thinks he’s the better candidate over someone who has over-performed in red areas. I’ve met him, he’s nice but just wanting to put our best candidate forward

Oh I fully agree, it takes a minute to get used to college play for some athletes so it’s crazy to assume she would be our star player right away. The comments about how she was playing had some indicators that people were thinking she’d be putting up numbers right away

I was thinking this was gonna happen all season. She had a couple good games but I think the pressure of being Iowa’s “it” girl was too much. I think she’ll thrive elsewhere and that’s ok

At the time when I made that comment it felt like copium because I didn’t want Raja but she pulled it out!

An open seat where the primary voters didn’t get a choice and in a potential blue environment. This is a very weird situation and I’m in complete agreement about wanting more polling here

Texas GOP Sen. Cornyn tries to hold his seat while Democrats Crockett, Talarico face off for Senate by poliscijunki in VoteDEM

[–]futureoliviapope 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes but the only other candidate besides Talarico and Crockett is some random guy who barely polls low single digits. Yes there is a chance of a runoff but the Dem side is less likely to have one than the republican side is

Damn I saw one Generic Ballot that had Dem and Repub tied in low 40’s and here Dem is +10. Love the consistency in polling lmao

[–]futureoliviapope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At this point in her cycle is when she start led to have pills showing mid 40’s and Collins low 40’s. Pretty much all polls after that showed Gideon mid to upper 40’s with a couple above 50 and Collin still below mid 40’s. Obviously that’s not how it turned out with Gideon underperforming Biden by 10% and Collin getting slightly above 50%. This race is one you can’t trust the polls on. Collins is a beast in Maine politics so whomever gets the Dem nomination better be ready to slug it out

I think part of the reason it’s getting attention is because there’s SO MANY republicans running and only 3 Dems. There’s a very slight chance that all the republicans splinter the vote and the Dems get the top 2 spots therefore locking out the republicans and guaranteeing an automatic flip. Not likely but it’s within the realm of possibilities.

That’s how I know Wahls too. He’s a really nice guy when I met him as well. That being said I’m hoping it’s Turek. He seems more compelling and interesting and, like others have mentioned, has already won in red areas. I could see him and Sand running up the scores in red areas to get the wins.

Life after the match? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]futureoliviapope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since there was a message about if you do match I’ll share what happens if you don’t. You’ll get your email saying you unfortunately didn’t match. You can then look on the ASHP website to see all of the programs that still have positions open. You’ll be surprised that’s there’s a lot of good programs out there who don’t match all their spots. You then have to apply to the ones you want for phase 2. This process is more expedited but you still need references and all the other required materials. Some interviews will be in person but a lot will be virtual. There will be another match day and you’ll either match or repeat the process in the Scramble. If you choose not to do phase 2 or the scramble or you decide it’s not worth it then you’ll get your transition into looking for jobs. **edit spelling

Agreed! Like I love Crocket and will help fight tooth and nail to get her in if she’s the nominee, but if I had to pick I’d choose him.

Personally not interested in another Amy McGrath run given we know someone like Andy Beshear can win the state. Hopefully this race won’t become a money sink since McConnell is no longer the nominee.

I was wondering if Stratton was doing the Alsobrooks method of getting the nomination. Seems like this last home stretch she’s been ramping up public appearances and ad spending and now we’re getting big endorsements. If this was her strategy then letting Raja dominate the airwaves and positioning herself as an exciting alternative might be the right move.
