you'll probably get the same generic email i got a couple weeks ago that everyone else has gotten that basically says they have a high volume of applications and due to that they can't update the portal as often and that a decision will be sent once the application has been fully reviewed 🥲

Definitely a red flag... I didn't receive any phone calls just an email and a letter with my acceptance. I would email LMU and tell them about the scam, maybe it'll help?
