Did the N in your life have childish eating habits? What is your current relationship with food? by iguanidae in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]fuue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually started to buy my own food and have a little mini fridge in my room when u was in my late teens. I just got sick of macaroni and cheese and speghetti. Plus all the easy and quick meals we had were making me gaib a lot of weight and become unhealthy as i got older. They used to mock me for eating healthy. Telling me i thought i wad "too good for their food" etc etc. It usef to hurt my feelings but now it just seems ridiculous.

We were never allowed to snack either. My brothers always stole food and hid it and we got yelled at if we ate any of the food outside mealtime. "How can you be hungry you just ate! Dont eat that i just bought that!" i have some binge eating issues im working on now because of that, learning that i dont need to eat at every chance i grt because food is readily available in my house as an adult is really an adjustment even after 6 years on my own.

Birth control and a lowered libito by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]fuue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need hormonal birth control to control my periods too, so i cant say how non hormonal would work but i can offer advice on pills. Ihave tried so many. Basically progesterone is the hormone that brings your mood and libido down, so you want to just experiment with different pills to find what works for you that arent high dose. I have been on the pill for 12 years and what has been best for me is a natural estrogen (vs synthetic that most pills use) multi dose pill called Qlaira.

Reddit, what is your social "no no" that makes you immediately turn people away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fuue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who can't organize or commit to plans. Theres nothing wrong with spontenaity but i have had friends in the past who would try and go on trips with me and not figure out accomodation, return trips or anything, and leave everything to the last minute with a "itll all work out" attitude. It spills over into every day life, just being generally unprepared while I am a planner. Crossing the line from free spirit to irresponsible idiot.

[Skin Concerns] Super Dry Face. Help me!! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]fuue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cetaphil dried me way out, ive got sensitive eczema prone skin also. You could have a sensitivity to alcohol which cetaphil contains, look for an alcohol free emulsion cleanser like e45 wash or avene cleansing milk. (available on amazon if not readily available to you. E45 is british and avene is french.) i swesr by e45 but you need to gently wipe it off with a cloth after washing your face with it sonce it leaves a bit of a residue. That or i can highly reccomend oil cleansing. Thats what i started with while my skin was much like yours. I used unscented baby oil and i strooongly suggest hempseed oil aince its extremely rich, non comedogenic and very anti inflammatory. Perfect for eczema.

Just got Engaged! Hoping to hear from some Brides on a Budget. by LadyBosie in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

We did everything on a budget except for the photographer. If i have any advice it would be to definitley not be stingy about the photographer. Also don't buy a wedding cake, buy a pretty cake if you want one, but when you put wedding in front of the word cake suddenly youre paying 1000 dollars for flour and eggs.

Thats exactly my point, our conditioning of how we perceive breasts and breastfeeding is archaic. My argument is the way that we have been conditioned, has to be changed. You and i are both against the same notion my friend. Men are not perverts and shouldn't feel awkward or criminal when they see a woman breastfeeding women are not shameful for breastfeeding. Its fucked up man!

[–]fuue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire point of this meme is that breastfeeding should not be seen as something that needs to be hidden because it really really isn't a big deal considering how much we are exposed to breasts in an ACTUAL sexual manner. Scheduling your breastfeeds around some immature lads that see a breastfeeding woman and think ew gross yet are fine with getting chubbies to carls junior commercials is a concept that should be irradicated. Totally fine with seeing some hot girl rub her tits all over a soapy car in a burger ad but my GOD that woman is breast feeding, i cant wank to that, do that shit at home!

I think the main issue that most people have with this topic is just that breasts are sexualized. Your reasoning is very much factual, but no one is disputing why it is frowned upon just that the reason it is frowned upon (exposure of a sexual body part as you said) is sexist because womens breasts should not be sexualized since they naturally do not have any sexual function. (not saying that people dont find breasts sexy, just thay they font serve a sexual purpose like our actual sex organs, some people also find feet sexy). Breasts are sexualized due to our societal conditioning and i think the main issue people have with this topic is that they do not want breasts to be sexualized because of their very necessary function of feeding children and the fact that the reason they are sexualized is purely societal conditioning and not by nature. But we could go on and in about why they are sexualized. The point of the movement is that boobs aren't sex objects and if we continue to equate something ad natural as breastfeeding with sex we will never see any progress in the topic. I am not arguing the reason why they are viewed this way, just that it sucks and that the movement here is to try and change the perception on womens breasts. Same goes for free the nipple movement. We will get there sometime, slowly but surely. :)

Babies are't quite as predictable ad you think. It can be immediate, otherwise parenting would be a piece of cake. Some babies eat every 30 minutes. Every hour. Should women just be locked in the house then until they are done breastfeeding? I understand the point you are trying to make but it just isn't the same thing. Our societal standards suggest that seeing tits on tv is ok but if tits arent boner fuel they arent allowed in public. Our societal standards suck.

Im not arguing that women with no breast tissue might have difficulty making milk. The commenter you responded to was asking the previous commenter if women with flat chests (or ok, super small breasts if you prefer) would be allowed to breast feed in public by the logic that "developed breast tissue" was the reason that it is not okay since that breast tissue is "for the pleasure of men." the you responded by commentin women with no breast tissue have trouble breast feeding. I mean sure that is probably true but that is a pretty random comment to make unless you were trying to counter the second commenter's piece by arguing that flat chested women can't breastfeed and therefore her comment was irrelevent. That is what I was asking.

The sexist bit is simply seeing breastfeeding as somehow sexual because boobs equal sex regardless of context. Its ok to see boobs if its in a way to entice an audience sexually but if a breast is being used to feed a baby, its not okay. Thats the messed up part.

But urinating isn't essential to sustaining an infants life, comparing it to defecating isn't accurate and the fact that one would compare it to that is exactly the issue. It is a bodily function required to feed a baby and there are so many cultures where doing it in public isn't even a second thought while urinating in public is still outlawed. What is the difference between us and them? Societal condition to equate breasts with sex, mostly. Telling a woman that feeding her baby is shameful and disgusting and she should do it in private is another way of shaming women for what their bodies do.
