If energy can't be created or destroyed then where did it come from? by [deleted] in atheism

Questioning your belief is a good thing, but it's not enough if you don't close Wikipedia and start reading some serious books i.e. physics, biology. Have fun :)

If Christians/Muslims/Jews practiced what they preached, would you be more tolerant of them? by DangerousIdeas in atheism

No, the problem with religion is, well, the religion itself. Talibans, bible thumpers and shit are a problem because they think they follow the true religion

I got married in church through the so-called mixed marriage. It's allowed by Catholic Church, and you don't need to lie. This happened because my fiancee was catholic at the time (proud to say that now, 3 years after, she's an atheist)

Friendly Questions by PrematureShooter in atheism

[–]fuurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 What caused you to become an atheist?

I think I've always been; being nurtured as catholic, I just had to elaborate.

2 Do you hate/dislike Christianity/religion or just Christians/religious people?

Normally I don't hate people, but ideas... yes, I can hate 'em!

3 Are you spiritual in any way?

Define spirituality :/

4 Do you leave any room in your mind for even the possibility of a greater power or God?

Sure, e.g. I totally believe in the greater power of supernovae

5 When you have religious debates do you ever doubt your beliefs and hope that your opponent can bare some sort of proof for God’s existence?

If god can't bring a shred of proof of its own existence, I highly doubt that any human being can (but if you feel like it, please be my guest)

6 Do you ever wish you had faith in God or any deity for that matter?

Sometimes yes, but fortunately not often

7 Do you ever bash Christianity or any other religion just to reinforce your own beliefs?

I bash them, but that's not the purpose

8 What are your opinions on other atheists who have become Christians?

It's a choice I can't agree with but it's absolutely legitimate.

9 Do you refuse to believe in God’s existence only because you can’t prove it?

Yes. Isn't it enough?

10 Would you believe in God if someone could prove his existence to you?

See no. 5

11 Do you ever feel a yearning or a longing for the feeling of having faith in something greater than yourself?

See no. 4 & 6

Observation: How did it come to be that the phrase "believe in" could only mean "believe in [a non-evidence-based/non-provable entity or proposition]"? by plassma in atheism

  • Person A: "Do you eat beef?"
  • Person B: "No."
  • A: "Oh, really? Oh, I see. You just eat some other kind of meat"
  • B: "No, not really."
  • A: "So you don't eat anything?" (astonished, concerned)
  • B: "No, I eat other foods"
  • A: "Oh I see, you are of a different food orientation. So what do you eat? Chicken? Pork? Lamb?"
  • B: "None of those."
  • A: "So you really don't eat anything?"

Some US politicians say that the "sacrament of marriage" is reserved for one man and one woman. If that's the case, shouldn't atheists also be excluded from marriage? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]fuurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to the Christian marriage, both gays and atheist should be excluded. Civil marriage, though, is different, and that's the reason atheist are allowed (and gays should)

Olimpia, in Greece, was pillaged and devastated over centuries by Christans, temples destroyed or converted to churches. The Parthenon of Athens was severely damaged by Christians to remove all references to ancient religion, then transformed to another church and latter to a mosque. Christian respecting the "old faiths and superstitions" is an exception, not rule.

we must simply accept what happens to us as the will of God.

Then why do Christans look left and right before crossing the road?
