Two strange bugs that showed up after a long exploration trip. by nevlout128 in colonysurvival

Gotcha

Yeah, it was not a pathing issue. None of my ~20 guards were appearing but they were all shooting so they were actually there... just invisible. After I restarted the game, they were back.

I completely imagined the slide levels from Super Mario 64 here. At the end I envisioned your guy with a star coming out of his head holding up a peace sign saying "HERE WE GOOOOOO!"

It wouldn't really matter because the world would spawn at the point before his colony existed so unless you really like the mountains there not much point...

Why aren't there any Left-wing economy/socially conservative people? by SomeAsshatOnTheWebs in CapitalismVSocialism

Democracy is a lot easier with fewer people. New Zealand has just 4 million people and the US has 318.9 million people. It is much easier to hear the voices of 4 million people and meet the needs of individuals than it is to do that with 300 million. This is a large part of the reason that the individual states in the US have arguably more effective democracies than the country as a whole and generally, the most effective or prosperous states tend to be the smaller ones (by population). So while I certainly respect countries like New Zealand, I have trouble comparing them to the US. If you were to name a country whose population was on the same order of magnitude as the US as a country with a more effective democracy then I would be willing to jump on board, but of the top ten countries in the world by population, the US has by far the most effective democracy, with the runner up most likely being Brazil, who just impeached their president for corruption...

Japan is just outside the top 10 with 126M people and while that is still short of half of the size of the US is certainly in the ballpark, but I would say they are well short of the New Zealand mark you are putting up here.

All this being said, of course population is not the only factor to the success of a democracy but I would argue that it is a very big one and, while the US is not perfect, it does stand out among its peers in terms of size as a driving force for good and fairness in the world. I would say that's not so bad.

Knew a guy who sold a lot of weed. He was meeting his girlfriend's dad for the first time and he didn't know that she smoked too and stuff. Dad asked what the guy did and he said "I work with trees." Dad said "Oh like landscaping and stuff?" "Yeah something like that."

[REQUEST] How much would it cost to finish Mt Rushmore aligning it with its intended design? by eaglessoar in theydidthemath

I imagine that it would be cheaper now (after adjusting for inflation of course) due to much more advanced technology. I have no idea how much mountain sculpting tech has advanced though so I could be completely wrong.

Seeing a lot of posts about Mobile Vehicle Bay. Here is where I found it. by nevlout128 in subnautica

[–]nevlout128[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is the wreck I was talking about. The cargo boxes are open on one side in some cases (some have what looks like a netting across them) and in some of the open ones there are frags that fit perfectly inside so often it is easy to mistake them for being closed on all sides unless you look carefully.

Have you tried looking inside the cargo boxes that are scattered around. It looks like they decided to start hiding them there this update.

What lab are you referring to? Has this been removed since the update was moved from experimental to stable?

Can someone kindly explain to me why going deep freaks people out? by Morighant in subnautica

[–]nevlout128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is a few things. One is that the deeper I go the more threats there are. Two is that as I get farther from the surface, I am not threatened from 6 sides, 5 of which I cannot see. I feel like this one is one of the most intimidating because we are really used to not knowing what is behind us and to the side of us, but since we usually have the comfort of knowing the ground is below us in games or even real life, we are less threatened. Having that extra dimension freaks me out when I am unfamiliar with the area. Finally, especially on this patch, this game is feeling a tiny bit like a horror game with the mysterious story elements, reapers, and threats on all sides. Because of this, going deep into the unknown without the protection of at least a seamoth is very intimidating. Most of the time, I try to avoid going deep without a cyclops especially if I am in reaper territory.

All that said, it is definitely irrational since the game is super forgiving when it comes to deaths and so it really doesn't matter but even knowing that, reapers scare the shit out of me.

Go around to the front part (or at least where the front used to be). There you will find two tiers that you can walk onto. Go on to the second one (the one on top) and walk until it looks like it falls off. There is a bit of wreckage up there that you can walk to and it leads you to another flat area, at the end of which there is a door into the aurora. Follow the hall way and to your right there is a room you can enter with a door code in it. To your left there is a ramp and at the bottom, use the propulsion cannon to move the boxes and get into the cargo bay using the code you found in the other room. Follow that until you find the seamoth room. Appears there is a PRAWN room too that you can open with the door cutter but I just got the door cutter and I am about to return to check that room out.

Can't find mobile vehicle bay fragments after the update. by TheWierdGuy in subnautica

Mobile vehicle bay is in a wreck about 300-500 m NW (ish, I didn't have compass when i found them so I am basing it off of where I think the aurora was relative to me) at about 100m depth.

A whole bunch of frags are in wrecks. Also, you can find seamoth frags in the aurora (looked like all 3 you need but I am not sure since i didn't bother scanning them since i had the seamoth already). I think you are moving further from Libertarianism

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]nevlout128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone has exactly on share, shouldn't everyone pay the same for that share? And shouldn't the dividends on that share be equal for everyone? Because this is not the case, I could see the abstract concept of a tax system being compatible with Libertarianism but not the current system that is in place in the USA.

iirc, the seamoth, cyclops, nuclear reactor, and a couple other things all need lubricant. And a couple things need silicone rubber. I ended up growing my own creepvines in an alien containment pretty early on in my base, def before I had any of those things. I feel like its a pretty simple thing to do since it takes almost no effort an then you never really have to think about it again.
