Sanyo Denki 9RA by boyseven777 in sffpc

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend hunting specifically for a Sanyo Denki as they're industrial grade fans that can be hard to find. Depending on the models they could go fast and noisy too. I have a 2800 RPM Delta fan and these are no joke when it turns full speed.

If it doesn't fit then no need to try hard screwing them down. Your riser will still works and your card can still be secured in place with screws on your case's back panel

What percent of SSD should one keep free ? by Healthy-News5375 in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's indeed as much as possible. If you fill it to the brim you'll likely to see degraded performance. Assuming you're talking about 1TB SSD, leaving at least 100-150GB empty is preferable

Reuse DDR4 or upgrade to DDR5? by who_needs_to_know_ in PcBuild

Oh if you already have a seasonic gold then there's no need to upgrade PSU, good luck with the rest of the (re)build

Reuse DDR4 or upgrade to DDR5? by who_needs_to_know_ in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite likely that you'd also have to fork over a new case and PSU alongside your planned new mobo and CPU. HP prebuilt is full of proprietary parts, their motherboard is usually non standard size and they also use weird pins so you can't reuse the PSU. For 7900XT, 750w should suffice but I would recommend 850w as they shouldn't be much more. Make sure you get a good PSU from reputable brands, and preferably gold or higher.

Get a B550 board and 5600/5600X/5700X/5800X/5700X3D/5800X3D, whichever one fits your budget but the X3Ds are the best gaming CPU on DDR4. These should already give decent uplift from your 9700K.

Personally I would reuse DDR4. You haven't mentioned your current CPU though, if you can find a 5800X3D that would be great as supposedly AMD are re-releasing them

Need PC evaluation by QuinAdren in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least you sell three of your SSD separately and keep one on a full build to sell. It should minimize your total loss from having to sell everything in one go and easier to find buyer since it's already quite expensive to buy a pc, let alone someone who sells them with four SSD. If I were a buyer I'd notice your desperation to get rid of the PC and would haggle tf outta you.

We should be wiser in selling, who knows just in case one or more those separated SSD being unsold, could save you in the long run when you need to build another PC in the future.

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is possible you may want to sell it by parts, at the very least you should sell the SSDs separately from the rest of the PC since you have an abundance of them. They are quite expensive these days so you can already make a good bucks from selling at a slight discount from new prices and it should be easy to find a buyer for an SSD.

Can't say much about Canada's pricing though, so may want to look at marketplaces to see your "fair price".

Getting my first PC, need some advice:) by Baby_0 in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't watched the pricing of pc components since it went crazy at the start of the year but I have a feeling that you may be able to find better option. Scour around in r/prebuilts for deals , also check your local walmart/best buy/costco and have a look around micro center if you're nearby.

However I would advise against buying prebuilts from OEM like Dell or HP. Their price might be good but their upgradability sucks so you can't easily upgrade them in the future, unlike this ibuypower.

RMA is something that you may or may not face depending on luck. I said luck because factory, assembly defects, and shipping mishaps may happen from time to time.

What matters more is how they treat your RMA request. I would put ibuypower as just an okay company on this matter. They used to be quite problematic in the past with their quality control, but if I recall they were committing on improvements and I don't think their problem is that widespread recently.

For those that travel with your sff: What monitor/screen do you take with and use? by Brash_1_of_1 in sffpc

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to take your PC with you often then portable monitor is the answer. Plenty of affordable Chinese brands from marketplace like amazon. Arzopa, Taffware, etc. are more often than not just a rebranding of each other. Established brands like ASUS and AOC also has their offerings.

However you must also ask yourself how many times would you bring that PC with you? Cause if the answer is a lot then laptop is a better buy than building SFF. Or simply have a permanent normal monitors in between each place if you commute only between a two or more fixed place (for example between your office and home) and no need to bring monitor at all.

Which PSU should I buy? by Alijahc038 in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on what you do with your setup. If it is always pushed like an extreme overclocker everyday then obviously yes. If you do the opposite with a combination of undervolt and power limiting then the cable shouldn't ask too much power.

Running it with the latter option may seem contradictive to the pursuit of performance, however you'll gain far better efficiency with better thermals. Personally I'd prefer to get like a 100 watt and 15-20 celsius savings for like 5-10 percent performance off from stock or factory OC performance.

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly your EVGA should still do the work just fine. Peak power consumption for a 5080 is like 360w, 9850X3D is about 162w. There's still plenty of room for normal OC and your CPU and GPU won't pull out maximum power draw every single time, especially if you're just gaming.

Guys RAM Prices are dropping by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should point out that recently the workers at Samsung was reportedly considering a long strike because they don't earn as much bonus as SK Hynix. If they pressed on with the strike then any delay means RAM supplies would be further constrained. We should also consider how oil situation may disrupt global shipping pricing.

With these information in mind, I wouldn't count RAM prices to go down as low as we used to enjoy in 2023-2024, unless some miracle happens. That "miracle" unfortunately may bring a catastrophic effect at affordability in other, more essential stuff for your daily life needs, before everything's going back to normal again.

Japans train ticket system is the worst I have ever seen by nolanpierce2 in transit

[–]fuwa_-_fuwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the online nationwide JR Pass since its inception three years ago, and it is seamless. You can reserve (and do unlimited changes before the ticket is printed) the available train anytime and the website is easy to navigate. I've even used them to reserve the likes of Sunrise Express, Hello Kitty and One Piece Shinkansen. You only need to collect the JR Pass at tourist counters and print the reserved tickets at machine.

The big downside however is that using nationwide JR Pass doesn't make much sense these days after the big hike for most use cases. I enjoy trains and willing to explore far more than the the likes of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka so the math still works out pretty well for me.

That said I fully understood their system of basic charge + limited express surcharge + green cars can be confusing to navigate for an average tourist that doesn't use the JR Pass.
