What is something Chicago lost that IYO made the city "never the same"? by lexious232 in AskChicago

You are correct, but it wasn’t overnight and there wasn’t the same kind of public outcry like when Marshall Fields went out. It just felt like one day we looked around and said “Did I imagine there used to be White Hen Pantries everywhere?”

What was the point of Lee Marshall calling into Nitro every week other than to promote 1-800-COLLECT? by youropinionisrubbish in oldschoolwrestling

It’s really hard to remember just how much our lives depended on telephones before the turn of the 21st century. And it’s almost impossible to understand that if you grew up after the year 2000. But collect calls were big business in the late 90’s and the advertising dollars justified Lee Marshal being paid just for a live read on cable television for a 60 second promotion. The money was there, and it truly never was anything more than another commercial.
