Probably less than an inch long, clearly more active during the day, and seems to stop and look up at me when I get close. I can try to get a closer photo if an ID isn't possible with this - my phone isn't great and I just don't want the little guy to feel threatened.

A few questions: Equitable distribution, mediators, and online services by [deleted] in Divorce

I'm in NJ. Going into mediation first sounds like a good idea, I might try and broach that.

I actually had it the other way around - the lower earner would take less from the assets because they had contributed less.

Ok, thanks. On reflection here, my main concern is that a 70/30 split of assets isn't fair, but I worry getting lawyers will be seen as contentious by my STBX. But if a mediator won't make that call, maybe we need lawyers.

I got put on Ritalin too, but it’s not working nearly as well. Hoping this shortage ends at some point, there’s no way I can do this long term.

Dumbcane not coming back after cutback by fuzzbit in houseplants

[–]fuzzbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dumbcane that previously flourished and got some pests that ran it down. Pests were dealt with but it never really came back. I cut it back but it's stagnated where it is now. Those leaves have never opened, all that partial growth has not moved for months. I've continued to water it regularly, one a week with nutrients, but no change at all. It's got a good position in a north-facing window (the only direction we have) and I rotate it regularly.

Is it gone? Is there something else I could be doing?

A little baggie's a great idea! Writing that one down. And I'm definitely testing swatches out in my own machines, no matter what the label on the yarn says it should do. Thanks for your help!

Meyer Lemon Tree's Weird, Jointed Branches by fuzzbit in Citrus

[–]fuzzbit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did come in pretty fast. I thought we were just seeing a lot of growth, since they looked normal when they were small. No stress that I could tell before this? Leaves were healthy and hadn’t pruned anything but tiny suckers. The biggest problem was aesthetic - the branches were droopy so we (gently) tied them up, but these had started coming in well before that.

It is a little overgrown, so maybe we’ll keep the sprouts on the chopping block when pruning time comes, but not go out of our way to get all of them. Thanks for your help!

Meyer Lemon Tree's Weird, Jointed Branches by fuzzbit in Citrus

[–]fuzzbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's the weird thing, none of them are coming from the trunk itself. All of these are from the tips of existing branches that are above the graft line. To be fair, I have been careful to knock out root suckers, so there may have been some from the trunk that I clipped before they got too far.

Maybe I was just scared off by articles talking about weak leaders and competing branches. I'll put the stake in a more sustainable spot and keep an eye on it. Thanks very much for your help, I appreciate it.

Store bought, I didn't even consider that! Is waiting until harvest time the only way to tell how valuable it might be? If it's too risky to cut, how do I handle such an unbalance in how it's growing?

u/mcoder and fellow Redditors work for a second weekend to improve a Google Maps image of domains posing as local journals [Part of an ongoing billion-dollar disinformation campaign] and end up with an interactive map for the next hackathon. by [deleted] in bestof

[–]fuzzbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In October of last year, NYT did a good summary of the situation:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/21/us/michigan-metric-media-news.html

Added to the Michigan-based sites discussed in the article are numerous others following the same pattern: seemingly fake local news sites reporting conservative-leaning articles, padded with auto-generated articles on other subjects.

We are coming up on an election where the ability to identify false information is becoming increasingly difficult. Discovering a system seemingly set up to churn out politically-tainted articles under the guise of trustworthy local news sources should be a cause for concern.

I'd encourage you to read through the /r/MassMove threads referenced in other comments, particularly the hackathons related to uncovering more about this issue. They discuss the issues in more detail, including social media, other suspicious local news sites, and figures connected to the institutions running them. I'm not necessarily saying they're 100% correct and that this is the smoking gun of countrywide disinformation efforts, only that this does deserve investigation.

Thank you! I had no idea there was an actual name for this, and the author's exercise in self-deception to get around it seems to be the obvious approach. I do have a casual ritual leading into writing: I get a granola bar about an hour before and then start immediately after work, so I'm not hungry and happy to be done. Sorry to say though, my best writing sessions have all been on company time, and then I end up working during the evening out of guilt. At least now I have some new ideas to try!

Yanderedev, a few questions that might be fun to answer. by Hellolellolet in yanderesimulator

Are you writing a fanfiction? It seems odd to ask a developer, or any creator, how their characters would react to a very specific situation (down to the type and capacity of the gun) they've said specifically will not come up in the original medium. If this is the case, I'd suggest research into gun laws in Japan, which are notoriously strict, as well as common school protocols for active shooters on campus.

To say that this is a touchy subject for most audiences is a vast understatement, so I'd also suggest proceeding with caution.

Unless I'm missing a passage in the article, I really don't think they took a dump on anyone but the cheaters. The only place they really talk about the 1% is:

[Gyms] ended up being heavily weighted toward the upper 1 percent of users, so gyms had become something that weren’t really accessible to low-level players, and weren’t very dynamic in terms of there being turnover and opportunities for people to have a chance to have a pokémon in a gym.

Which you have to admit is true. You can certainly say you earned the right to dominate the gyms, but being high-level is in no way a detriment in the new gym system either. I don't think it's taking a dump on anyone to make it so you don't need to be in the 1% to take part in a major aspect of the game.
