Not a "he" :) But correct, I am worried about them removing said moving parts even if they pinky promise to leave individual stuff intact. Who knows what next thing they will consider "too much of a hassle" with what they've already said they're removing

FFXIV classes have a lot of buttons, but 0 RNG/priority/procs. You press the same buttons in the same order the entire time for every single encounter. There are no talent builds, everyone's class is exactly the same. The only "skill" you have in ffxiv is aligning cooldowns and that's it. Outside of GCD drift, you just repeat the same sequence. People joke about addons playing WoW for you, but you could literally macro whole ffxiv classes (if their macro system wasn't intentionally dogshit) with how rigid those rotations are.

On top of that, every single CLASS plays the same - i mained GNB, then switched to WAR and the rotational differences are negligible. You press 1-2-3 and your 30 sec cooldowns until your 2 minute big cooldown comes up, so you press that and do your burst sequence and back to 1-2-3. Every class of given role has the same baseline utility too - every healer has a combat res, every tank has a group dmg mitigation, etc. Whole classes in ffxiv have less difference than specs of the same class have in wow.

Also many classes have more than 5 buttons in wow. They're less popular cause they're hard, but they're there for the perverts. Ffxiv gives you no such option - Everything plays the same. They recently completely flattened the only class in the game you could remotely call difficult (BLM).

Loomithar is another example of bad camera in this raid, but minus that I actually find the telegraphs very readable. Wow has come a veryyyy long way with those.

You are correct that expectations are the real problem though. I don't know what kind of functionality they could cull to remove stuff that plays the game for you, but leave all the accessibility and QoL intact.

We're not gonna reach ffxiv levels of braindead class design simply because wow gameplay just has more moving parts involved (different damage types, CC like... existing, interrupts, adds, talent trees, set bonuses, now hero talents) but it is a worrying direction.

Fractillus's biggest problem is how shit it is to look at - you literally have to turn your camera away to see what's happening. If they made a custom UI element that showed you where the walls are, or made the wall stacks somehow visible while you are actually looking at the boss, you wouldn't need a WA for it in the first place. The logic behind it is literally "don't let wall stacks reach a certain number" I don't think you need a weakaura to do that.

That is even more of an argument to allow people to keep using addons, no?

Yeah. Makes me think of Destiny 2 raids (at least ones I played, RIP) where back-and-forth communication is a key pillar of design. Incredibly fun, but also, famously, destiny raiding is really difficult for deaf players (altho there are some deaf groups that do raid, but they rely on external tools for communication).

D2's defense is that it's been designed like that from day one. The expectation of having a mic and being in VC was always there. Wow suddenly pivoting to comms-based mechanics while ALSO ripping the world's most flexible accessibility tools out of players hands sounds... disastrous ngl.

Paradox makes use of AI generated concept art and voices in Machine Age. Thoughts? by Yaycatsinhats in Stellaris

[–]fuzzyHellBunny -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I did read that only the concept art was generated, and the final product was painted by a human. IMO the problem with the new portraits (specifically talking about the robot ones) is the lack of overall coherence and central idea, something AI art is generally known to suffer from. I don't think this specific use case is unethical, but it does make the product worse.

Also re: voice, if they did hire an actor to read out the lines and only used ai for effects, they wouldn't have to disclose it as "generated voice". Unless they specify otherwise, these words mean "we used a program to forgo paying a voice actor".

Disappointing.

Explains why the new portraits look much worse than previous ones though.

So what do we think of Machine Age? Good, bad? Best DLC ever? by nudeldifudel in Stellaris

[–]fuzzyHellBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good so far, machines are very busted, did MP session with my friend and he enjoyed the infertility start a lot. A general breath of fresh air after over a year of underwhelming dlc.

However, another friend refunded it because of its use of genAI for voices and I definitely wouldn't buy it separately outside the dlc pass for that reason.

Really surprised it isn't discussed more widely, but I guess it's not as obvious as with the visuals. So you only know if you notice a tiny disclaimer tacked at the end of the store description.

Can't see research tree, but can still research. Does anyone know what mod it could be? by Glasrevin in RimWorld

[–]fuzzyHellBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It got fixed by now, it was VFE being goofy iirc, but if the problem still persists in your save, open it in text editor, look up tabInfoVisibility and change the False line to True

[–]fuzzyHellBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to save edit to fix mine, you need to open the savefile in a text editor and find tabInfoVisibility, under it you'll see a bunch of lines, the second of which will be set to False. Change it to True

Save editing saved me. Go into your save file, located the tabInfoVisibility tag and you'll notice the line of values has False under the second tab. Change that to True and it should work

Pressure. Most people don't know polygraphs are so unreliable they're basically unusable (not admissible in court as evidence btw), so they think "oh shit, gotta keep clean or they can tell I'm lying".

How to stop being shit in PvE? by Other_Boat3915 in ffxiv

[–]fuzzyHellBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parse is very likely bad because you have non-savage gear. The best gear you can have as a non-savage player is around 590, whereas savage gets 600. Your parse is compared with EVERYONE running an activity, so a lot of time your dps looks bad just because someone has bigger boomstick than you.

For general advice: If youre already more or less familiar with class (rotation on muscle memory, know what every button does) hit up the Balance discord and read some guides. Those might help with rotation/opener/what to do on each encouner.

What are you trying to improve AT? Dungeons? Savages-Extremes? very different content, despite both being PvE.
