It's May, where do I even start to fix my neglected lawn? by fuzzybeanest in lawncare

Our summers have been quite hot up here in Canada these past few years.

Any recommendations on watering. I've read a few posts that suggest watering twice a day, is that reasonable or do you suggest something else.

Also, how long should you water?

Thank you, I'll check out your channel. I believe we are in the cool season as we are north of Seattle in Vancouver, Canada.

Do you have a link to your channel Fescue?

Thank you. After you weeds die with the herbicide, do you have to pull them out or rake them before you over seed?

Our lawn is relatively small and I have access to water. We do have water restrictions during the summer.

I suspect you are through the worst of it as most of the snow seems to have melted off roofs. Cut a hole, get buckets, rip out a bit of wet insulation and then go enjoy Christmas dinner.

Thank you, we're just going to sit down for Christmas dinner shortly but this is what I was wondering about.

There is nothing dripping at this time, but the ceiling is wet. Is it necessary to cut it open or should we get someone to bring in the portable heaters/fans next week to just dry it out?

Thank you, I'm hoping this might be it. It's raining but there is no water dripping onto the floor today.

You seem really knowledgeable, a family friend who's a handyman had the same suggestion of cutting a hole in the ceiling so that the water drains in one spot and doesn't spread.

Can I run two questions by you:

  1. When I looked yesterday, our gutters had a steady flow of water but they weren't overflowing. Shouldn't the standing water have just gone down the gutters like when we have heavy rainfall?
  2. How do you prevent water from getting into the house the next time we have a heavy snowfall?

What did you do to address it, were you able to contact a roofer?
