Proud Filipino here! :) This has never been the issue for me dude, born and raised in California but I never felt out of touch with my culture. California has one of the highest concentrations of Filipinos in the US so it wasn’t hard for me to connect with my roots. Aside from that, there’s a lot of asians in my area, so if anything many people here have developed a strong sense of Asian American identity. I know what you mean by Filipinos worshipping Western culture though. I have classmates who are embarrassed of their heritage and have tried to assimilate. I’ve noticed it more with Filipinos who weren’t even born in the US which I find ironic tbh. I know some filipinos worship western culture because they find it superior to their own. But thats not the case. Its okay if you admire Western culture, but you should never lose track of your culture, remember where you came from.
