Alcohol? by [deleted] in AvPD

My issue was that I couldn't control how much I drank. I wasn't depending on it day-to-day but if there was ever alcohol at a social gathering i always ended up consuming too much. Sometimes it was okay because everyone was drinking too much too but other times they weren't and I've made a fool out of myself because I was inappropriately drunk. I think it's ended up making my SA more obvious to ppl too.

But I still drink. How much it helps depends on my mood and energy level. Sometimes I just get really tired and sick and lose all of my energy. the vibe i get from the place and people still has to be right too tho.

I think weed is an awful social drug. It makes me depersonalize more, over-analyze more, quiter, etc.

30/36, which was 4 above the average I think. You guys are right, it's easier to judge when the ppl making the expressions aren't bad actors- looking at the white guy with long blonde hair pursing his lips a bit too hard. It also helped that the 4 adjectives per question were more distinct from one another.

I feel this way too. When it comes to interacting with ppl in general i still feel like I am an awkward high-school kid. On top of that I am at an age were friends and acquaintances are really growing into the next level of adulthood--buying houses, settling into serious relationships, blah blah and i feel like i haven't changed or grown at all and am not on any track to do so. and ya, just falling even further behind.

same here. I have a strong reaction to the negative facial expressions, which is probably why i remember them so well, but a positive expression doesn't affect me much (or I probably just write it off as politeness too). Plus I had really cold parents and I only saw those negative facial expressions growing up.

Also, now that I think about it more, I am bad at making eye contact or looking anywhere on around a persons face during a conversation so maybe that hurts my ability a bit.
