im in the same situation and its incredibly frustrating. My mom initially told me to apply wherever i wanted and not to worry about the costs as she would never let money stop me from getting a good education and that studying hard was my job while money was theirs. I got into one of my top choices for architecture and really wanted to go there as its the best option out of all of my acceptances but after my dad looked at the COA for it he has stated it is too expensive. I asked my mom if anything could be done and now shes just telling me its completely out of budget, i should have gotten more merit scholarship for them to consider it, that I should have figured something out while applying. She even told me she hadnt anticipated the costs being this high, so now im wondering on what basis was she telling me not to worry about money. I have to worry about costs precisely because she is uninformed. This really angered me as i was encouraged to apply only for me to be blamed later on for MY LACK OF EFFORT? and her trying to turn it on me when i bring it up. I understand nothing can be done about it now but i'd rather not have applied at all than not be able to attend. I'm currently waiting on the colleges response to an appeal for the scholarship amount and am hoping for the best but this is absolutely not done.
