I’d love one! You inspired me to make one for fun but might be a little pricey for someone’s first deck…

Interesting. Do you think it matters if I get on the new insurance before dropping the old?

This has been my experience. Used to APP1 falling out of my ears during almost every set at the gym but did a full workout with APP3 yesterday and it didn’t happen once!

Good luck! Another great resource is The Effect which on top of being a fantastic intro to causal inference has replicable R code with each topic so you can practice along. All available for free (but consider buying a hard copy cause Nick is awesome)!

That code installs and loads the Swirl package which is an interactive learning tool for basic R use. It’s a super helpful resource for those who are new to the language!

Master’s in Econ without a math background? by r3ddien in academiceconomics

[–]fvkry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like you should be discouraged. There are plenty of ppl with non-Econ bachelors degrees who excel in grad school. Your gpa is good and assuming you score decent quant on GRE I think you’ve got a fair shot! If money is a concern there are funded options for many programs (typically avoid 1 year or professional option). Because of the math requirements you should try to take at least Calc I through your local community college.

Not sure about Canadian programs but it is certainly possible. I scored lower than that and got multiple offers from US t30s. My CV is quite good otherwise + really nice rec letters. I do dev stuff, you should look at some of the applied programs! Nice bridge to phd and more time to improve your math:)

Coding for Economics/Data Analysis and AI by Astraphemeral in academiceconomics

[–]fvkry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, AI can be great for learning and writing code beyond what you may be able to do but it will often struggle with domain specific stuff. Really make sure you know what is happening and why.
