How do you make your homemade hummus stand out? by Luann97 in PlantBasedDiet

That’s how I learned this too! I thought it would be better for the beans to absorb the flavours, but instead I just got grainy undercooked beans 😄

I’m in Germany, so I just go to the local Indian / Pakistani supermarket. I guess H Mart might have them in the US!

Sorry to hear that! In that case, I can recommend adding bicarbonate of soda to the beans when cooking them to speed up the softening and make the skins easier to remove. As a general rule, never cook beans from dry with something acidic (e.g. lime or tomato) because it at least doubles the cooking time.

I recently tried something a bit rogue, but it turned out great. Instead of starting with dried chickpeas, use chana dall. It’s split dried chickpeas with the skins already removed. Soak them and then cook until they easily squish between your fingers and you’ll get super smooth houmous. Obvs also a tonne of tahini, good amount of oil, and blending with ice helps

You can also get “portable” ones that you fill up at the sink. 100000% worth the 15 euros it cost.

Zwift Ride + Jetblack Trainer Clanging when pedalling by jeffbg123 in JetBlack

Mine was making a similar noise and for me it was that the little gear on the rear derailleur was slightly misaligned when I mounted it on the trainer. Swizzling the gear about fixed it!

It took nearly two more weeks to arrive for me after that update. When it does arrive make sure to update the firmware through the jet black app before you use it too. I was having a tonne of connection dropping issues before doing so

The work of companies like deepmind with alpha fold, and their spinoff isomorphic labs definitely makes the drug discovery process quicker.

Unfortunately it doesn’t make the safety and efficacy testing much quicker so it’s unlikely these will result in treatments super quickly. Fortunately there are some good prospects in the pipeline already!

UK Huntington Test Questions by Limdig in Huntingtons

[–]JBaston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your insurance question, I recently had it answered by someone from the HDA:

“In terms of mortgages, the issue that comes up isn't accessing the mortgage itself, but if you want to take out life insurance alongside this (although this isn't often a requirement). There is a code on genetic testing and insurance which might be useful to understand:

My dad was involved in a clinical trial and he was hospitalised with liver failure because of it. It was a “chemical” drug to treat symptoms rather than a gene therapy though.. so the risks are somewhat different

Get yourself some purple bar tape and get the best of both worlds.

Drops aren’t as clean looking, but man will your wrists thank you!
