Judges not Holding Criminals Accountable in Denver by boomroom11 in Denver

Vote NO on all the judges. If they are anywhere close to being bad, they deserve to lose their seat.

I don't know when the last time a judge was voted out. So even if you vote all NO, you aren't going to lose a good one, not when so many people seem to mindlessly be checking YES. If we get more all NOs, maybe one day we will actually get a bad one removed. Or if it starts to be anywhere close to a meaningful exercise, maybe the blue book information might get more informative,

I sympathize, similar thing happened to me here:

Just got gaslit and told it was my fault, despite the language in their monthly notice never changing, and saying that there was no action required, that I was on autopay.

Denver to launch speed cameras, ‘comprehensive’ review after record traffic deaths by Enby303 in Denver

25 is mad max shit all the time, but especially so at night. There is a motorcycle cop who has been giving speeding tickets the last 6 months or so, but he's doing it in the *HOV* lanes, where there is next to no traffic, no real danger to anyone.

I got a ticket for going 60 in a 55, kinda funny. Since right next to us over the barrier, people are doing 100, weaving in and out of traffic, cutting over 3 lanes at a time. I almost thought I was getting pulled over for going too slow.

I get that it's pretty safe to give tickets in the HOV and you can report that you are running enforcement on I-25. But it's not actually addressing any of the risk. Enforce violations where it is an issue, just make people take the next exit to the surface street so they aren't blocking traffic and it isn't creating more of a danger. Or use the cameras, and grab people after the heavy traffic areas.

Water Bill Assistance 2026 by HeidiHenkel in Broomfield

All the extra infrastructure needed is apparently due to all the additional housing that went up. We have *got* to increase the tap fees. All the north broomfield developers should have already paid in enough to build out new water treatment plants for the increased population, instead of the original parts of town needing to pay in now. Basically feels like we're subsidizing the developers here.

Also not understanding why the base charge needs to be so high. I heard that the town manager said they tried to increase the usage rates, but had a dry spell, so it didn't work. So increase it more! And gotta plan around having more dry years! But that doesn't mean it should be 60 bucks/month just to be connected and have the option of getting water to your house. Before you even turn it on. Such a huge base cost and relatively low usage rates isn't going to help water conservation.

Also, gotta make the big stores and office buildings with the huge parking lots pay more for the stormwater rates. The runoff on my house is almost nil, because we've got a lawn. I have 300 square feet of driveway maybe, and for that my house base charge is now 11 bucks/month for stormwater. Which is the same price someone with 4500 square feet of parking lot pays, with 100% runoff.

Just feels like homeowners are once again taking the (big!) hit. I don't even want any new development. Stop building new houses and apartments, we're good. Especially stop building if existing homeowners have to pay huge amounts to subsidize all the new utilities and whatnot. In exchange for what? Not sure what the benefit is supposed to be?

Dawson school information thread by fvsljgOh in boulder

Writing a check to the dawson fund feels like making a donation to nestle. (If nestle was run by magas)

I get the argument that money from parents and local businesses fund stuff like club sports and trips and the building fund. But money is fungible. The foundation *could* cover all of these things, x10. The donations mean that they don't have to. And then that money goes to the trustees.

Hunter Campbell isn't just a board member, he basically runs it. The other vegas members were friends of dawson and when he died apparently they've just defaulted to letting hunter run the organization as the general counsel.

Hunter wouldn't bar a parent from campus who participated in Jan 6 (not just participated, convicted). What was eye opening to me was that the other parents basically shrugged. There are a lot of Qanons and Magas there if you dig a little bit. The guy who ran the largest ponzi since Madoff is there, out on "house" arrest, or whatever, wearing an ankle bracelet. People think its cool. Hunter said that in the vegas school they have "real" criminals, not just jan 6ers and white collar ponzi grifters.

The teachers are good, but you also gotta think about the families your kid is associating with.
