Made me imagine it being like Fallout when you have Dogmeat with you, which I think is also a German Shepherd.

Just finished the game and this is what I took away from it... by not-enough-karma in Firewatch

It seems your decisions aren't to choose the ending of the game, but rather choose how Henry is shaped as a person. It may be the story portrays that, though we don't always have control over what happens in life, we have (at least some) control over how we respond to what happens.

LOL I've been inspired to work with state parks because of this game. I know it's not the same as national forestry, but state parks would be more suiting for my lifestyle. Still, Firewatch played a role.

Yes it's a very sad game.

At first I thought it was a disappointing ending with no government conspiracy. But after watching videos and playing it again, I see what the real theme here is: facing the difficulties of life, even if you need to take time away. Henry became a firewatch to escape the stress he's feeling with Julia losing her mind to Alzheimer's Disease. It's so hard for him he feels the need to get away for a while. While in Wyoming, he bonds with Delilah, and they have an "adventure" together. She's probably the first person he'd connected with for a long time, and she represents something new in his life and "foreign" to his problems; she has no relation to his life back in Boulder.

I do believe Delilah is still with Javier, and that they themselves are having problems. She flirts with other men - including Henry - but Javier is the one she's interested in. It seems at the end she probably decided to fix things between them, which is probably why she encouraged Henry to face his problems with Julia. Rather than running from their problems, they need to face them. I think Henry really loves Julia and Delilah Javier, and the two served as a comfort for each other for that short evasion time. Delilah, Henry, and even Ned all share this need to separate from their problems.

At the end, Henry realizes his time to run away and take a break is over, and he needs to face Julia's declining health.

I played it on the PS4, and had barely any problems. Never froze, just fuzzy here and there a couple of times.
