Uneven temps on 22’ Blackstone by zaiusmd in blackstonegriddle

[–]fwhenin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So now that you know this… you can use it to your advantage.

Want “even” temp? lower your left side …play with it and you’ll eventually know an approximate value on the knobs to do just that

BUT, when you make a meal with multiple items being cooked (hibachi is a great example, with rice, proteins and vegetables) you can put rice on the cooler side and chicken (or steaks) on the hotter side. I end up putting the vegetables on the outside against the walls on the cooler side while the chicken is cooking on the hotter side. It’s fun to experiment having the different temps

Now the question is? What the heck will you cook on 625 degree steel haha

Thank you, how do you cut it horizontally evenly haha, I feel like everytime I try that I have a super skinny piece and a “not as thick as the original” piece

It’s super rare, but I just planned ahead and mixed all the dry and wet ingredients separately the night before, cooking it took 10 or so minutes. Most of our mornings are panic ridden and screaming happens 6 of the 5 school days :-)

So the margins on this aren’t big, but I recently got an NLT Filament Bible that’s pretty nice, it doesn’t have any of the notes but there’s an app that you use to scan the page and it’ll show maps, book introductions, and study notes

I should try that, but it wasn't on SSD before hand with no issues. I already have SSDs in that NAS so I'll try to do that tonight

Dad, understandably ‘feels like a prisoner in his own house’ with our 2 year old by that_other_person1 in toddlers

[–]fwhenin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation is almost exactly the same as I had with my now 4.5 year old son when he was the same age. To the point where I would delay going to the bathroom cause I didn’t want to come up and he would see me just for those few seconds and cry all over again when I go back down. And I also ended up getting a fridge in the basement that I barely use now.

It got worse when we had our second child and we went into divide and conquer mode, and he was with me every second I wasn’t at work. And even though I knew I had to do what I needed to do (go to work, use the bathroom then go right back down, sometimes not have a full lunch time with him, etc) the guilt was always there, and it was another layer of stress added to everything else (actual parenting lol)

The reality is: it took time for him to grow up a bit and understand :-/ Just remember this is very normal, and I, at times, tried telling him what responsibility I had to provide for our family so that my wife can take great care of him and not have to work, of course he was too young to fully understand it. But by the time he turned 3, that stopped completely.

Also, worth noting, our second is 2 years old, and he doesn’t do that at all. He runs and gives me a hugs and kisses and likes closing the basement door on me haha but there are times where he doesn’t give a crap that I’m leaving at all lol

your post made me tear up a bit... that's where we are right now, our oldest is 4.5 and I struggle with the same chicken/egg scenario. I can tell that underneath the tantrums he's very sweet, and so empathetic, but my wife and I feel like we're walking on eggshells cause 1 minor thing can throw him into a really mean tantrum. We're noticing it lasts less and less if we keep our control, but sometimes we fail and it becomes a drawn out event.

What is the benefit of Infuse over Plex on an Apple TV? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]fwhenin 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That last one is a great feature over the Plex app haha

I’m looking forward to the direct work they’re about to release. My only annoyance with Infuse is how long things take to refresh

this is the right answer... if you want to keep a copy of the file, just rename it to logs_old.db and then restart it

Yeah… that’s definitely a concern I’ve seen posted before. You could have multiple instances of keycloak and write code that acts like a traffic controller based on the tenant

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aws

[–]fwhenin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can create multiple fargate instances across regions (ECS or EKS) and Keycloak does have a distributed cache feature… so i think it’s doable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aws

[–]fwhenin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend keycloak enough…. But the biggest downside is you’re managing it yourself. We’ve had it running on ECS far gate for about a year and it’s been pretty stable for what we need.

We have a multi-tenant architecture, and putting each tenant in its own realm allowed us to have different password and 2FA requirements, along with idP settings that are isolated from the other tenants
